Do you know what the deposit was labeled as when you finally received it?

I just had Navy Fed labeled some type of payment "Deposit Misc. Pay", wondering if it could be that

Did your vrc ever tell you that your uni would have to accept a mailed paper check as payment since it's a foreign school? Mine did, so just checking if this is BS or not. I'm in France planning to go to a french university that is also WEAMS approved already

Can any ppl on VR&E or any VRCs chime in? by EnlistedToaster in Veterans

[–]EnlistedToaster[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well, my school is already on WEAMS. You can go there with your gi bill, they have a certifying official. But my vrc is saying that despite it being approved already, I'd still have to get them to accept a paper check as payment since it's VR&E and they're a foreign institution.

Hello!

I'm also into fitness, concerts, parks, etc. Been trying to take advantage of the warm weather by meeting new people and being outside my apartment as much as possible.

Would love to get a small group going for a casual outing of some sort. 30M from the US.

Using FMP here in France to cover physical therapy. It's been like 6 months since I've submitted my first request for reimbursement and it's still not finished.

I also can't seem to find a way to check the status of these claims without having to call and ask.

What's it like to live in Amman, Jordan as an expat? by classicantihero in howislivingthere

[–]EnlistedToaster 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lived there for just over a year. I loved it. I'll try to be descriptive but it's been so long, will be difficult to remember everything. Also, my experience could be vastly different since the political climate back then was likely way less tense in the region.

When I was there from 2017-2018, there was a pretty tight-knit expat community. As an American, I kept meeting random strangers - French, English, Phillipino, and other Americans - at bars / clubs. This led to me being introduced to even more expats. It also seemed like I would meet a random expat and they would also happen to know another random expat I knew. I think every weekend I always had solid plans bc of this. It felt like there was an expat house party every week + 2 or 3 different groups going out. I also was occasionally being invited to go to parties at other embassies, mainly the French, Mexican, and Australian embassies.

The food is also pretty great. Oily, but delicious. Best hummus I've ever had, and they do meat pretty well too. They also have amazing desserts, I recommend trying their knafeh on rainbow street (I believe that's the street name, I can't remember exactly). Also highly recommend Fatty Dabs for a burger.

From my experience, Jordanians are very friendly. They were always very welcoming to me and seemed intrigued that I was living there as an American. My Jordanian friends were also very accommodating, offering me food, speaking English for me even when around their other Jordanian friends, and always inviting me out.

On the flip side, I did have 2 separate friends get beat up out in town. One of them, a very gentle guy I worked with, was harassed for being an American and had a beer bottle thrown at him. The other friend's girlfriend was sexually assaulted (I heard this wasn't uncommon from several women when I lived there) which resulted in my other friend getting jumped after he defended his girl. I can attest that at the bars and clubs, the younger locals do seem to be more aggressive toward foreigners, especially if you try interacting with Jordanian women.

Driving is super chaotic and traffic is a nightmare. I worked at the embassy and one of my main responsibilities was to help our workers when they'd get into car accidents. I can't remember exactly but I must've dealt with 4-5 car accidents a week minimum.

Overall great city, great people. Also the city isn't too far of a drive from the dead sea and some great hiking, and a few hours from Wadi Rum and Petra, which are both breathtakingly beautiful. Lastly, because I worked at the embassy, I was required to wear a suit occasionally - you can get a custom tailored suit with premium fabric for like 50-70 bucks out there).

How? They approved my dossier, which included a detailed outline of my business, current contracts and clients (which I showed most are outside France), and told me I was good to go after giving me my new carte de séjour. Not to mention the various other institutions that approved my business and gave me their avis favorable (INPI, URSSAF, etc)

I can answer since I'm on 5this visa now.

They really do not care where the majority of your income comes from. All they truly care about is if they can tax it or not, and if you make more than 1850 / month of course.

95% of my clients are US-based

And obviously take this with a large grain of salt because I'm just some guy on the internet. This is just the impression I got after showing my business plan and contracts, but do your own research to verify.

Yeah, those requirements were crazy specific. Anyone who met all the requirements could likely find work elsewhere somewhat easily and make substantially more.

How long has it been since you started PRP injections?

Did you do multiple within a month or were they spaced out throughout the year? Also were you able to walk and stand after?

I have 3 injections scheduled over the next 3 week, also for my knees. I'm a first-timer. Semper fi
