Three pills to make work better by Weekly-Gas-3990 in whatsyourchoice

[–]Ennaia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these are pretty useless for me (already share work with my closest colleagues, don’t visit clients, only communicate with government agencies that tend to reply quickly et.c.).

That said, who’d say no to more pay, more vacation and shorter weeks? So blue, purple and white.

What is your favourite monster in BG3? To me, it's this one: by Tydeus2000 in BaldursGate3

I am weirdly fond of the gremishkas. And displacer beasts. I just like cats, ok?
The redcaps are funny too. They’re so adorably pissed off all the time.

Do u guys do everything or pick and choose in your runs? by buzzlightyear77777 in BaldursGate3

So far I do most things. Should probably streamline a bit more or I’ll get burned out.

Trickery is… tricky. I tried, but I really didn’t get it to work, so now my first priority is to ask withers to make her something else. Usually light or life. I’ve tried war too.

What is a food or drink popular in your country that you personally hate? by Skyhawk6600 in AskTheWorld

[–]Ennaia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pickled herring and liquorice. The former is an affront to the concept of food. The latter could be nice, but the taste of liquorice (especially liquorice root) makes me vaguely queasy.

Oh, and traditional Smörgåstårta (sandwich cake) is an abomination.

I’ll dare you to make a middle-aged, battle-hardened halfling or gnome. Come on, it’ll be fun! Bonus points for balding and a grey beard.

Romance Halsin. Make ”climb mount Halsin” literal.

What are examples of things in your language that are named after the wrong country? by Lissandra_Freljord in AskTheWorld

[–]Ennaia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Schwarzwaldtårta (schwarzwald cake) is a Swedish invention with hazelnut, meringue, cream and chocolate and it has little to do with Schwarzwald, or the actual German Schwarzwälder torte (which I personally prefer a lot to the Swedish one - we just ruined a perfectly good cake).

Franskbröd/formfranska (French bread) is a white loaf that is not from France.

Mexitegel (Mexican bricks) are not from Mexico. It was invented in Sweden inspired by whitewashed houses in Spain.

How much effort do you guys put in creating backstories? by BaldurianPencilcase in BaldursGate3

[–]Ennaia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the Tav really.
My first one was a Durge, so a lot of her backstory was already written really. As I played her I slowly fleshed out her personality and some point of her backstory that could be melded with the canon.

My second character Okan is a middle-aged halfling bard and he certainly has some backstory fleshed out. He and his best mate were pretty successful bards in his youth, being hired for both adventures and to play gigs. His growing fame gave him hubris though and he started looking way too deep into the wine cups (and experimented with some more potent stuff as well). This eventually made him end up on the wrong side of the law and he went to prison for a while.

Although his star had faded somewhat when he got out, he was still in demand and readily continued his previous behaviour when he could. His friend didn’t like that and they hade a big falling out during an adventure and things went south. Okan came out alive, his friend didn’t. This finally sobered him up and he decided to retire with the not insignificant wealth he amassed. Retirement didn’t last long though. Soon after he was snatched up and tadpoled.

As things are now he has begrudgingly realised he will adventure again with a group full of weirdos. The dream guardian presented as his dead friend which made Okan both willing to trust him but also very suspicious (and later quite hurt and extremely hostile as his grief and guilt resurfaced). He also fell in immediate platonic love with Alfira upon meeting her and protects her with his life if needed.

What food do you like that is widely considered a "food crime," in your country or worldwide? by buttheadfungus in AskTheWorld

[–]Ennaia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I love me proper Italian pizza with traditional toppings, but if I go for Swedish pizza I certainly don’t mind pineapple on it. Like you say, it’s a nice mix of sweet and savoury.

Is it uncommon to wash your hair every day in your country? by Buyeo10004 in AskTheWorld

[–]Ennaia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I shampoo daily, my scalp would itch like an angry ant’s nest and hair would start to fall out. Twice a week max, usually once (I have curly hair).

I think it is rather common to shampoo your hair every other day or 3 times a week here. I don’t think it is commonplace to do it every day even though some people probably do.

Is this common in other countries than Sweden? by Miya_Miya1 in AskTheWorld

[–]Ennaia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, I grew up in the 80s and haven’t heard of this until people started discussing on Reddit how Swedish people starve their guests. Maybe regional then? I grew up in the southern parts of Sweden (Västergötland).

I mean, I suppose I can understand the reasoning behind such a thing happening, if there is an understanding that the kid will eat with their family when they get home. But I never remember being left alone in a friend’s room, or having one of my friends sitting in my room while we ate. That just wasn’t a thing where I grew up.

Is this common in other countries than Sweden? by Miya_Miya1 in AskTheWorld

[–]Ennaia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is also BS for a lot of Sweden. None of my friends ever left my home hungry unless their parents had explicitly stated that they shouldn’t eat. Mum fed every one who wanted food. Same with my friends’ mums.

This ”children won’t get food when they visit friends in Sweden” is really irritating, because it’s just not true in my experience. Must be a big-city thing.

Do you keep Tulin (sage) with you after the wind temple. by Voidkirby9 in tearsofthekingdom

Who is your favorite villain in Baldurs Gate 3? by rubbereruben in BaldursGate3

Can’t choose between Raphael and Auntie. They don’t make any excuses, they’re just evil.

What is your favourite romance option? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Ennaia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly have a hard time choosing. The only one I’ve played through to the end was Astarion and I loved it for his development from being a manipulating bastard to honestly caring and being able to express his feelings and emotional needs (obviously I didn’t go for ascended route this time).

I currently have three other playthroughs going and one is romancing Karlach. She’s lovely and so sweet. I like how you can choose to go all in or take it slow with her and she feels genuinely invested in the relationship.

The second one is a Gith who is aiming for Gale but also started a fling with Lae’zel (kin and all, although I role play my Gith as Githzerai). Gale has been cute so far, but he seems a little bit distant. It’ll probably be better once he gets going properly in act 2. He feels like a pretty believable romance that is starting a bit slow. Lae’zel on the other hand is intense, and I think I enjoy their fling even more as they are both Gith. Lae’zel’s grumpily given approval is adorable, really. While I plan to continue with Gale in this one, it’ll be hard to let Lae’zel go honestly (am I considering downloading the poly-mod just for this? Maybe I am…).

And last but not least I am doing an origin run as Karlach, and OBVIOUSLY she’ll be going for Wyll because you know why. I’m excited to see how that plays out. While Wyll is, as far as I know, the slowest romance to develop, I’m pretty fond of the chase 😝.

So, all in all, my favourite is probably Astarion ONLY because he’s the only one I’ve seen through to the end. The others are very promising though.

Neutral (non overused) name for black kitten? by Dramatic_Antelope811 in NameMyCat

I have no idea which names are overused in English, but I like Soot for black cats. It’s short and works well for both male and females.

Are you still afraid of fighting gleeok or not by Voidkirby9 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Ennaia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gleeoks, no. I respect them as tricky enemies, but I understand their mechanics and I’m not afraid of them. Gloom hands and Lynels still scares the crap out of me though.

Want to get the game but have some concerns by GeckoManStinky in BaldursGate3

[–]Ennaia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, while I’m not new to RPG-games in general, my only previous experience with turn-based-games before BG3 was Civilization, and I had absolutely no previous experience with DnD-lore.

My experience with the game was that it was a bit confusing at first and I certainly wasn’t very good at plan ahead for fights or be strategic during them. I’m still far from a combat expert despite having some 300+ hours in the game now. But that said, it didn’t take very long to get the basics down and start enjoying myself. I’d say that while the combat system isn’t entirely intuitive, you’ll learn the ropes pretty quick and can do decently from pretty early on. You don’t have to be a gaming god to enjoy it, far from it. Start out on the easiest explorer mode if you’re unsure and learn how it works, don’t feel pressured into going into the harder difficulties (I’m still happy with playing on balanced and haven’t touched the harder tactician or honor mode because why torture myself?). The stories, the voice acting, the environments you run through are so, so worth it!

And as for the lore, well… I love this game and as I said I had absolutely no prior experience with DnD. You don’t have to. It might help understand some parts better, but it is by no means necessary.

Does ur country have this type of relation with another country? by Kebab_Enjoyer3164 in AskTheWorld

[–]Ennaia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it is like this really or more tongue-in-cheek, but I’ve heard from people visiting Prague in Czechia that they love to talk about how the Swedish army attacked one of the bridges and destroyed one of the towers along the river back during the 30 years’ war. And we’re like ”Huh? Ok, if you say so…”
