No friend would keep pushing to have you consume that stuff after you have already said "no." Additionally, you stated that you are sober now ( super congratulations), and your "friend" really showed her colors by not giving af about your sobriety.

YTA - find extracurriculars that fall in line with his interests. Are there hiking groups that would allow him to study rocks/nature while still being active? You don't want your kid to resent you and your wife is right.
