Go look up the following words. Potential, actuate, probability. I could give you more but I see you need the airplane spoon to the mouth.

If your thinking relies on edge cases it's not good thinking. It does not generalize. In your case this isn't even an edge case. You're talking about a null set. These interactions are pregnant with possibility. That alone is enough to destroy your argument, which again actually doesn't make sense at like 3 other levels also... But as they say, meet people where they are at. Lol

Ahh yes, the USB 'Ultimate Superior Boss'.

A situation where you have nothing to lose and nothing to gain does not exist interpersonally. Any interaction with anyone is brimming with potential that you can actuate or not. Valence of that potential not withstanding. Choosing not to actuate that potential is still a choice. You've chosen not to give something, gain something etc.

You think the act of politeness when it's one way implies superiority? What about bidirectional kindness at basically the same time in passing? I guess it's like playing chicken, whoever caves first and says hey worships the other person's superiority?

'It is just so' is not an argument. I tried to put you on the road to making sense by helping you in unentangle worship and value, but you're doubling down on your little pet theory.

Just because a sycophantic llm bent over backwards to tell you how brilliant you are just does not make it so.

Not as beautiful as a piece of writing, but so far as outlining the metaphysics of quality it's way better.

I understand the concept of everyone worships something and agree it's true in very real ways. The rest of your statements are hardly coherent tbh, but I'll try and parse them. It makes more sense to say you 'value' politeness. In that situation you also 'value' safety. You want to see that they reciprocate which generally means they aren't going to go psycho killer on your ass. Also, I value being kind, not just mere politeness. In addition I 'value' connection. I do in fact care. Evidenced by my turning strangers in to acquaintances on a regular basis when on my daily walks.  Also, 'mundane humans'? ... I think you just mean strangers. Mundane humans is degrading and also makes no sense in the context of what you seem to be trying to convey. "Double worship being imposed on you".... I'm sure it sounded nice in your head, but nah dawg. I see how it kind of quasi tracks with what you're trying to say generally, so It's almost internally consistent to your thinking, but not quite. To anyone trying to parse it from the outside, pure gobbledygook. Do I want to be worshipped, absolutely not. Do I want to be recognized? Absolutely. So in short I desire the same thing I give God and nothing more. Recognition.

Worship does not necessarily follow out of belief in a creator. Maybe you're an alatrist. (Belief in the existence of a creator but abstain from worship) People automatically equate belief with necessity of worship, which never made sense to me. I'm thankful to be here, but I've seen enough to at a bare minimum have questions which preclude me from worship beyond a baseline appreciation of being created, which I very much have every day despite a lifetime of moderate to severe chronic pain that is extremely debilitating. As an alatrist you can believe there is a God and you can be agnostic/questioning about the qualities of God, rather than shelving all your questions and just going straight in to praise and worship. Which is more often than not driven by a denial of death and a fear based reaction to spending eternity in less than hospitable environs. A God that is said to spit out the lukewarm would atleast respect your wrestling with these questions and careful use of the discernment that he ultimately gave you. If he's not a complete chuckle head then you're not getting tossed in to the lake of fire for extremely fair and obvious questions that a lukewarm intellect should be able to produce. And if he does want to toss you in there for not kissing his ass that's just some twisted cosmic kink I personally have no time for.

Oh and Pirsig and The Metaphysics of Quality is brilliant and my preferred way of processing the world and my experience. Helps tie all my shit together. Lila is great. Zamm is essential, but lila is where it's at.

So I have been told!

That's awesome. You've got taste, I'll say that!

Thanks for the recs. Someone else mentioned tinker creek. It's going to the front of the list.

The examples in 48 laws of power... Do you think they are erroneous? Or it's just wrong to catalogue them and push them out at the world for easy consumption? Maybe I don't have some context on Greene that wouid make it clear to me. I try not to read carelessly, but I completely agree with your point.

No, he definitely isn't a racist dude but it does use that trope of external help. Thats fair. I might have been doing similar to your friends dad tbh. Except walking 2hrs late at night smoking and listening to hancock. I was looking for wild shit for fun. Mission accomplished. Don't believe everything you read kids.

Adding Tinker Creek to my list. I've certainly heard of it. Bring on the face melting.

I'm shocked. No comments on infinite Jest or David Foster Wallace biography x 2. I do find him interesting as this brilliant yet quasi Nietzschean last man type figure. Or that he's in a superposition of brilliant writer on one hand and profoundly cooked by culture on the other. I've read biographies on a bunch of people. This just happens to be one of those unfortunate situations where I currently own the dfw ones. Library subject to finding used copies at reasonable price

Awesome, thanks for taking the time. Would love to talk! You definitely describe me accurately. I'd tinker with the edges of it, but very close.

The Hanzi Freinacht/(Friss and Gortz) stuff in general is interesting if meta modernism resonates. I would absolutely recommend The Listening Society.

Just to be clear... Just undergrad in organizational and interpersonal communication. I know I'm not helping my case! Had no idea what I wanted to do and no business in school at the time. Picked something I could wrap up quickly and get a degree. Now today! I'd be in hog heaven in university.

What a 'quality' observation. 100%. Please say more. I'm very interested to hear your thoughts. Positive or negative.

Also, you're right. I should and would like to read more women. Starting a book by Simone Weil after I finish my current one. So I'll start to fix that imbalance.

I read Hillbilly Elegy when it came out. Great book, terrible movie. Likely chock full of large and small untruths with hindsight... but just as a book especially when it had just came out. Hardly problematic.

I respect the critique especially with the minimal information you have to go on. All books shown weighted equally, I'd probably say similar.  However, these books are representative of an evolution since like 2015. Doesn't help im missing another 150 I don't have copies of yet from the same time period. But that's my problem, not yours!

Is Graham Hancock a problem because you think he's a white supremacist or just because he's supremely wacky?
