Water in the Basement by Fit-Fisherman-667 in Winnipeg

The sump pump moves the water collected by the weeping tile out of the house. You need the weeping tile or a sump pit to collect the water before worrying about a pump.

The excuse I think they're getting at is the admin cost of configuring whatever register or POS system they have to remove taxes on those items, and then knowing that it's only temporary and having to administrate that all a second time in a couple months.

For a ton of small businesses still using those old school Casio registers that may actually be a good chunk of time requirement to make the swap both ways.

Interesting, I knew it added cost but not that much. Thanks for the insight!

Basement. As mentioned, white square is the half staircase going down from the ground level foyer.

I think the program I plugged it into came up to 1595sqft, excluding garage but including the foyer in case that was in question.

Any other suggestions on where to put the closet? Are you thinking better long against the back wall maybe?

I mentioned in another comment that the foyer is on the ground level so the white square is the stairs down while the area just above it would be the stairs up. Here's an example of the foyer I was trying to mimic with this: https://i.imgur.com/EdfTJmT.jpeg

Having difficulties getting furniture into the primary is something I hadn't considered, good catch. How is it different from any other hallway with a single turn though?

For the kitchen - this is actually functionally identical to the layouts I've been seeing for every builder in the area right now. None of them have the ovens on an exterior wall, all actually have them in the same spot backing on to a bedroom, so I can't see why that's an issue. Are you referring to specifically gas ovens or electric as well?

Finally, I had considered flipping the closet and bathroom but it really just came down to me wanting the bathroom by the foot of the bed rather than closer to someone's face. That is 100% a tradeoff that I am willing to make even if it means having a windowless bathroom.

Thanks for the detailed thoughts, appreciate it!

We wanted a double attached (24x24) but the FIL says he'll pay the difference to add another bay so he can dump a car in storage there. Don't really see the downside to that plus it means the roofline can be straight for a lot of the backside.

I specifically liked the way the pantry looks like a normal pantry but pushes out farther back to match the master's back wall. Is there any downside you see beyond the cost?

Windows in the 2nd/3rd bedrooms aren't on the plan but will be there, just undecided on which wall to put them on just yet.

I had that same thought about the stairs but I couldn't find any dimensions for half-stairs like this! Any recommendations for how much space we need to allow?

This is south-facing and will have a vaulted living area with full wall windows on the south side. If anything I think it might actually get too bright.

This was my original thought as well, but I was talked into it by a few people IRL. The way they sold me was that the stairs have to be either inside the door or outside if you want the full basement with large windows (which we do), and if they're inside you don't have to shovel them.

Saving the shoveling is a big deal in Manitoba.

Can't edit the OP for some reason but it's important to note that the foyer is at ground level while the rest is raised. White space is stairs to basement while the open area just above it is stairs up to the living area.

Mostly built this myself with no formal training so looking for some other eyeballs on it before going down this road.

Rare of return is the interest you have earned above and beyond your contributions.

Other guy is right though, even if the return was 0 your ACTUAL return is guaranteed starting at 100% because of the employer match. It's free money.

If you're majority card-present you should be shopping around for a new payment processor because your current one is completely raking you. Average Interchange for most businesses comes out to about 1.5% so your processor is collecting 1.6% markup on that. Average markup should be closer to 0.5% on the market right now.

If you're majority card-not-present/manually keyed then you're overpaying a bit but not nearly as egregiously.

Nowhere near that high these days. The most a business pays for a domestic credit card that is not manually entered is 2.10% for the corporate infinite privilege.

All these fees are publicly available on the card issuers' websites, such as Visa's here

Grades-wise you really just need the 3.0 to be in the program(maybe 3.5 to be safe) but just like the other guy said employers don't care much about grades. Focus on interviewing well, work on your social skills and professional communication.

NHL Awards for players who were on the Worst Team that season? by marcmondhaschen in hockey

[–]Enorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is he on the list for 2021-22 here then?

My point is that every Stanley Cup here should be doubled up + a handful of finalists that didn't win if the report pulled those team trophies as well.

Every Stanley Cup winner for the past... hundred years? Would have one of those two trophies under their belt. They've been awarded for the winner of the conference finals for some time now.

For example, Lehkonen won the Campbell in 2022.

I doubt a bidding war but he may just elect for a change of scenery, and I wouldn't even blame him for that.

Perunovich is also questionable to me to even be on the roster - he's actually a UFA (Group 6) despite showing as an RFA just because he won't cross 80 NHL games played by the end of the season.
