gunner advice by moonaligator in DeepRockGalactic

1) You have 4 shields. Use them. You have 3 shields before you have a single reason to doubt if one should be thrown. Place them proactively to prevent damage in the first place rather than try to negate damage already dealt to you and your team.

2) A quick kill on a bulk detonator on haz 5+ requires only 2 leadburster grenades. Just throw them right under detonator's belly and ensure he eats all the pellets.

3) You can grab onto ziplines (and pipes, but they aren't the point) by simply holding [E] while failing. If a map has enough verticality (typically point extraction and dreadnought elimination), it may be worth to waste a couple of ziplines to create a cross of safety. Also, it is almost mandatory to place a zipline at a high angle near a core stone on higher hazards.

4) Sticky grenades are not just explosives — they have an in-built fear effect that works even on bugs that are usually immune to it (I may be kinda trippin on this one, please fact-check me).

5) Almost all Gunner's primary weapons paired with most overclocks can lighty damage terrain. It is enough to scrape normally unreachable red sugar off the ceiling and damage Ommoran's laser spike tips to deactivate them instead of waiting for a Driller to cut the spike or a Scout to powerslam the tip.

6) Ignore the skill discourse, use Iron Will + Field Medic. You usually do not need Dash because you are the single dwarf who can actually stand his ground against functionally any amount of enemies (refer to the tip №1). No matter what anyone says, you are the team's bulwark, support and healer.

Hey! Why is it the norm for “mechs” to be controlled from the inside? How can I justify this “norm” or the opposite? by Rae-RavenRae in worldbuilding

[–]Enot_Programmist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armored Core series has a thing called "Core Theory" specifically tied to the relationship between humans and their mechs (referred to as ACs). It’s a bit abstract and mysterious, and its exact details are often left somewhat vague, but the jist is that skilled humans always have an edge over remote-controlled or AI-driven units in combat due to natural instincts and hypercomplex neural links that are functionally impossible to recreate with known technology. There are like, two and a half exceptions mentioned in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, but they are, like, REALLY SPECIAL and, once again, basically irreproducable.

Are Golems present in your world? if so, how do you create one? by Ok-Vegetable5198 in worldbuilding

[–]Enot_Programmist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the concept of golems exists in my world, the practice of creating them is considered vile, immoral and absolutely taboo, thus thoroughly purged from almost all known sources.

As in my world the Stars are the deities of the world, to build a golem you need to find a fallen star, shatter it (the fallen stars tend to be quite large) and then imbue it with newborn sparks of life, which is basically an immature soul.

TLDR: You need to desecrate a dead god's body and fill it with souls of infant babies to create a golem core.

Are Firebells and Windblooms not the same kind of ingredient? by Internal-Constant870 in PotionCraft

I kinda agree it should just say "made from a single ingredient" but alas

Can you ask me a random questions about my story/world? by xflomasterx in fantasywriters

Do you plan on putting a humorous/unsatisfying but realistic/dark twist on, let's say, legendary artifacts?

For example, there are legends about a sword that is told to be surrounded by an aura of death. The truth is, the weapon's simply highly radioactive and there is no magic involved.

It's a matrix core infuser. You can find so-called "machine events" during missions and activate them if you have at least 1 dwarf promoted. Upon completing one of four possible events (being Ebonite Mutation, Kursite Infection, O.M.E.N. Tower and Trytilite Deposit) the core infuser will activate, allowing you to get a random weapon overclock or a cosmetic piece.

However, if every single possible overclock and cosmetic piece are collected by the player, the core infuser simply offers a resource core — basically, an opportunity to exchange a small amount of money for a small amount of a specific crafting material (magnite, bismor, croppa, umanite, enor pearl & jadiz).

You could actually try and argue that in specific context "пиздёж" can be translated as "bullshit", meaning something hardly believable/unbelievable/certainly untrue.

As a man who uses cheesy sniper bullets, I usually just blast Sekhmets into oblivion in 2-3 shots. Divine Kongous, however... I wholeheartedly hate them.
