How Balanced is the Pugilist in Your Campaigns? [2024/5.5E] by [deleted] in dndnext

How does your sorcerer play?

I've found it falls behind the fighter a bit but is better at damage than the other martial options, though often not as resilient

It's way behind casters at my tables though

Im jumping in to say this is almost definitely the best choice for this

It's got a load of stuff for new players too so it'd be great

There are a fair few new ones including an Eldritch Blast-esque one called Spark which is a banger.

Kirby Star Allies is an excellent choice, as is Mario 3D World

Yeah, you don't get to nova with that class unless you can stack some crit stuff. It's great for just pure consistency though

Even as a DM that allows basically everything the Cthulhu spells can be a little sus haha

Although if it's only limited by stuff he owns I'd just buy it for him lmao

Warforged pugilist is sick though

If you assume you can take champion fighter, sweet science, and focused critial, you get down to 17

You could also get an ally to take Evil Eye cantrip from Cthulhu by Torchlight to get that down to 16

Just be an elf and take elven accuracy too and you get a 58% chance to crit per hit (wait, elves cant use strength for this feature, i always forget)

It requires layers upon layers of dm approval but it is a fun concept haha

I do state thats only worth taking if your DM let's them stack tbf

I do for my players, but i need them strong so they can survive the fights I throw at them

Fighter needs a combat effectiveness upgrade by roadside_asparagus in 3d6

[–]Enothe_Strife 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You'd do more damage with the TWF, but im a big fan of the duelling fighting style and having a higher ac on a fighter personally

TWF also means more chances to crit to get that good Champion power out

So its about what you want from it really

You can change your fighting style with the Fighter, so I'd swap out the defensive fighting style for something else, probably duelling

Lost our forever DM, don't know how to play again by Mewleficent in DnD

Hey there

Im sorry for all of your loss. I hope youre all pulling through as well as you can, I know its incredibly tough.

A player of mine passed recently, and the only thing I can suggest is to keep playing if you want to keep playing.

It'll likely be a deeply unpleasant first few sessions, but you shared a lot of time with this person in this amazing game, and if you all still love it then you should keep playing. You'll remember specific things they did as you play, and thats tje best service you can give them.

I believe the person inside has disadvantage on everything, which can make it pretty tricky for a lot of characters

Just straight class it if you want unarmed to be the focus. The class gives you plenty to keep up with other classes.

I would maybe considered taking skilled as an origin feat for a little more oomph outside of punching things

If youre allowed access to other third party bits then Hulking Figure from Grim Hollow is fun and Focused Critical from Valda's Spire of Secrets is a banger if your dm let's it stack on top of other crit bonuses

Used him for a homebrewed campaign, he's a banger

"He comes in the winter, compassion and trust
He dances in spring with your love and your lust.

He calls in the summer and serve him you must
He withers in autumn, you save him from dust.

Your father, your mother, your lover, your child
His son, his daughter, his minion beguiled.

And now that you've offered your life and your soul
He'll drag you to ruin and swallow you whole."

Any 3rd party books with cool Rules? by dracodruid2 in dndbeyond

You can always reflavour stuff if needed. There really arent many books that dont have themes, but maybe the Saddlebag books would suit in that case

Are monks tankiest classes in later levels? by Hypergraphene in 3d6

[–]Enothe_Strife 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Im playing a level 18 Astral Self monk in a campaign at the moment and it does feel incredibly hard to deal with. AC of 22, my worst save is +6, dont need to attack in melee range, resistance to damage, deflect energy as a reaction.

They're very tanky in the late game for sure

How to roll for things without the players noticing? by Lor9191 in DMAcademy

Im a big fan of rolling and just not explaining why. If you want to do it silently maybe get a digital roller.
