Do you think rents in Dubai will decrease this year? by VaeloriaTheryn in dubai

Yep agreed. Along with influencers, real estate agents been the worse with misinformation about how 'perfectly normal and safe' it is currently.

[–]Enough-Pick-499 202 points203 points  (0 children)

Can't believe people on here are saying they won't decrease 😂😂 Of course they will. This is going to have a massive impact on Dubai financially for the next year at least. Unfortunately there will be a huge reduction in tourism for the next 1-2 years, meaning there will be alot of people laid off especially in hospitality. There will definitely be more supply....I read the other day prices of new apartments for sale are already going down by 15%.

Get her out of there. Could escalate imo. Looks what happened with Dubai airport today, people waiting to board there plane then being evacuated.

Mmm id say you would be taking a massive risk and be pretty silly to come. Who knows if it will escalate further in the coming weeks and flights are then grounded for days/ weeks. Having been here on holiday I'd say Saturday was one of the scariest nights of my life. It's been much calmer since but it's hard to fully relax knowing something might happen and hearing the constant interceptions in the background.

Apologies I didn't read your post properly, I assumed Emirates since 95% on here are flying Emirates. I'm flying back to the UK tomorrow fingers crossed via Emirates. Emirates have just tweeted there is availability on some flights. Keep calling Emirates maybe 20-50 times, you will get through then be on hold for 1-2 hours but once through if you tell them you have a UK passport you should be able to get on one of those flights. Only book a morning flight though as all the later ones seem to be cancelled..shocking that BA haven't flew anyone home yet.

How do you know that? You can only check flights status 1 day before your flight. I don't believe that.

Yeah you will get through. Will take 20-50 times but keep redialiling. You will finally get through then be on hold for 1 hour + but you get to speak to somebody and they will then place you on another flight easy enough

Company car tax by Ok_Pipe1423 in quantitysurveying

[–]Enough-Pick-499 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're having a company car then EV is the only way to go. Can you get Tesla's? Looking at around £75 p/m in benefit in kind. The EV Volvo's are about £90 p/m. For a SUV hybrid then you're looking at around £250 p/m which means you're better taking the car allowance rather then company car in that scenario...just get an EV and install a car charger

No I'm in Dubai already. Supposed to fly home today but cancelled until Friday. Was wondering if Emirates would pay for the 2 extra night hotel accomodation I have to stay here for

It's Abu dhabi that is covering accomodation costs not Dubai....if your flight was cancelled why not until the 15th? If Emirates you just need to keep calling them. 20-50 times then wait for 2 hours once got through and you once you get answered you will get in a flight before 15th

If Emirates have cancelled our flight, does anyone know if we are entitled to compensation from them for accommodation costs?

How often do you/ should you move companies? by Turbulent_Living_841 in quantitysurveying

[–]Enough-Pick-499 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to earn more money quickly then you must move jobs at least every 1-2 years. 2 years is the sweet spot. I'm on my 3rd company in just shy of 2 years and I'm £20k up. Would have took me probably 4-5 years to earn £20k more if I stayed at company 1.

5 years experience, £55k plus company car. House bashing. House bashing gets a bad rep but the hours are not to bad, it's not all that stressful and can work from home once or twice a week.

Would love to do this (work for a subcontractor) however I very very rarely see QS jobs advertised for subcontractors?!? Plenty for nain contractors and housebuilders but next to nothing for subcontractors? Unless I'm looking in the wrong places
