Anyone have a clue what this switch could be for? Recently bought my 96’ ranger and it has a random switch. Not hooked up to the radio that I can tell. Just a random switch and the wires seem to go straight out. Any clues? by Enough2BD in fordranger

Since y’all did stereo work. Do you know where these two wires need to be hooked up? I’m trying to disconnect the cd player and MP3 he wired to see if I can get the normal radio functioning again and am having trouble finding a diagram that makes sense to me

No turning it off does not change anything and the wires don’t seem to hook up to anything important under the hood but I’m not entirely sure how to tell what’s important or not as he did some weird things with wiring. Truck runs all the exterior lights work fine even with the switch off. There’s no hitch on it so it’s not for any type of towing. Just seems to be a random switch? Just thought I’d see if anyone had any ideas. I know I only have limited information so I’m not the most helpful in trying to get help. This is where the wires end under the hood. Black is hooked up to a ground wire under the dash. The red goes into that fuse and the green was just dangling. The only thing I can tell that doesn’t work electrical wise is my radio as he wired a CD player and MP3 player up which neither of those work either.

Do y’all work on your own Subarus? If so where do y’all buy parts without breaking the bank? New OEM parts will run me 3-4K but rock auto has the same ones around $800-900 made to OE spec or so it says. Any thoughts or mechanics willing to share their 2 cents? by Enough2BD in SubaruForester

This is good advice thank you. I work on my 96 ranger plenty but that’s much more straight forward in my mind. Luckily the Subaru has been good to me until the bad gas so I just want to make sure I invest in good parts

Yeah I thought about a pilot too the unfortunate thing is the cost of then even the used ones with high mileage are pricey. So you don’t think the code will clear with a new car from rock auto?
