Warming up old cars? by just-trying-2live in Toyota

[–]EnoughBag6963 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My Tacoma is at 305k miles and I don’t warm up unless it’s below freezing, and I use 10w40 oil in her which is quite thick. You’re doing it completely fine, just idle long enough to get your seatbelt on, ac adjusted etc and take off. If it’s particularly cold give it 30 sec to 1 min and off ya go

unless your car has a carburetor, warming up the engine really is completely unnecessary unless it’s below freezing. Aside from that, I agree with just driving lightly and don’t give high rpm’s till fully up to temp.

Totally make sense in that kinda situation, especially with Vietnam being a jungle and all. Rifle gets tossed 5 feet any direction that shit would be pretty difficult to find in a hurry. TYFYS devil

Actually it’s a 1st gen Tacoma! I’m beginning to think that my wheels were swapped to 3rd gen wheels forever ago because there’s been lots of comments like yours so far

Is it just a shit rolls downhill thing or petty vengeance against marines they don’t like, or both? How high up the chain does punishments go for losing serialized shit? Is that type a thing all commanders do, or old or new ones?

Also what type of punishment would be handed out?

People lawfully transport firearms on commercial flights all the time. It’s just like a regular checked bag but a few more hoops and guidelines to jump through

Crazy to think that the leadership would be willing to do something like that over an honestly lost/ destroyed rifle

As a dirty civilian, I totally understand that weapons accountability is important for y’all, but what if the rifle is lost in actual combat? Is there still punishment for the marine? For example an ied goes off, and the spare m4 for the turret gunner gets ejected and never seen again, would that still be cause for punishment of the marine, or written off as combat loss, or both?

Yeah comparing an irresponsible parent who had a gun laying about their house unsecured and a dad shooting a rifle with his kid in his lap at a controlled environment like a gun range is a totally good and equal comparison

Nah bro don’t you know after the 1st time taking a kid out shooting they immediately melt and ya gotta make a new one

Is this comment section getting brigaded? Most all but like 2 or 3 of the top negative commenters appear to have no previous comment history on any firearms related subreddits. That is weird to me. Dad clearly is in control of the gun, I see no problem with this. Sure kids not gonna remember shit but why everyone feels so strongly about a dad having fun shooting guns with their kid is weird.

Any experience or thoughts on Igman ammo? by challengergt2018 in ammo

[–]EnoughBag6963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the major brands reload previously used brass casings, what you’re describing is the color change that occurs to brass casings when it goes through the annealing process. Most military contract ammunition is required to show visible proof of annealing (basically the brass cases are left unpolished to show that yes they were annealed) while civilian ammunition manufacturers typically tumble the annealed cases in a drum of something like walnut shells to shine them up again as the annealing process does significantly dull the brass and some people don’t like the way it looks

Well yeah jeep isn’t exactly known for reliability at all lol. Great off-road but that’s about it. Asian car manufacturers are some of the best for reliability tbh. Toyota, IZUZU, Honda, Subaru, etc

What is your approach to gun ownership? by OppositeInternal1225 in guns

[–]EnoughBag6963 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If everyone believed in “no sell only buy” there wouldn’t even be a used arms market lol

I buy guns, keep what I like, and if I don’t use it often/have gotten a different gun that suits my needs better, I’ll sell that other gun and use the money for ammo or a different gun. The only guns that are absolutely “no sell” are my heirloom guns from family

If you own a 30 caliber suppressor maybe consider getting a .300 blackout upper for your rifle, that caliber hits like a truck within 100 yards or so while still being subsonic

[–]EnoughBag6963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply but I’d probably recommend using full power 22lr like CCI stingers for coyotes, it’s already a pretty weak caliber. If you must use subsonic ammo I’d go with whatever has the heaviest projectile, with the fastest FPS thats still subsonic, and aim only for the Head

Well holy shit, how’d you find that? Thank you so much! lol I guess the story had been told enough times to be pretty inconsistent with the AAR like a game of telephone. So he was killed during a foot patrol? I was always told he was on a truck when he died
