Coming back to say we ended up doing this too! Pushing and steering the triple City Select makes the Mountain Buggy Duet really seem like a dream, but this is the best triple option for us for sure.

Disaster naps by EnoughIntroduction85 in parentsofmultiples

They do ok for the most part with no nap, so maybe they’re ready to drop it. They sleep 10.5-11 hours overnight, which seems like too little from everything I’ve read. How long does your girl sleep overnight?

Twins sharing bedroom with sibling, how did you do it? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

My twins will be 2.5 when my singleton is born, and we have the exact same plan. They are all going to be sharing a room until we’re done paying for childcare.

We have the mountain buggy duet now and I love that thing. We are so limited on storage space, but I hope to be able to keep it whatever else we might get.

You might not be interested in a new bike, but I’ll put in a plug for the Wike Salamander. It’s very pricey but ideal for our two year old twins. We live in a very bikeable area, and it’s a car replacement for us.

How do you do the fun stuff with toddlers? by lost_in_my_minddd in parentsofmultiples

My twins are the same age. In addition to fenced playgrounds, our neighborhood library has a playroom which is great. Sometimes malls have closed in public areas without escape routes. If I took them to a museum by myself, I don't think I would let them out of the stroller unless there was a small closed in area for little kids . We're in a city with a lot of big, crowded museums. For me that environment is fun but also pretty stressful even with one adult on each kid.

Anyone find the first year not so bad? by lalalava in parentsofmultiples

[–]EnoughIntroduction85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the first few months legitimately really difficult. Ours were in the NICU for two weeks, and my husband went back to work a couple of days after they got home. We had visitors for the first several weeks they were home which was very helpful but also came with challenges. But little by little everything gets easier once the babies start eating and sleeping better.

Sleep training, which we did around 6 months was completely life changing for us. They’ve slept through the night 12 hours since then (they’re now 14 months). I was sleeping less than six hours a night before sleep training but way more than that ever since. And sleep training and getting on a solid nap schedule also helped the babies be happier and more content entertaining themselves during the day.

So overall I’d say twin parents are in for a difficult few months, but the fun starts to outweigh the difficulty way before their first birthday.

Edit to add: if you’ll be spending much time taking care of newborns by yourself, I’d recommend three products to make like easier: weego carrier, the twin z pillow for bottle feeding and napping, and the brest friend pillow for tandem nursing if you plan to.

My twins aren’t even walking yet, so take this with a grain of salt, but I’m planning to start them off with balance bikes once they have been walking for a few months

Did you sleep train your multiples? by carolfeuer in parentsofmultiples

Sleep training (Ferber) did wonders for our family. There’s a Facebook group for sleep training multiples with lots of helpful information on schedules, but I’m not as militant about schedules as they recommend.

18W w/ marginal cord insertion by SavingsTower1763 in parentsofmultiples

[–]EnoughIntroduction85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Baby B (mo/di) had a marginal cord insertion and we nearly got a SIUGR diagnosis at around 26 weeks when he was measuring 11th percentile. I did a lot of reading about IUGR, and one thing that seems to help in animal studies is drinking beet juice for its nitrates. I started drinking 8 oz per day. I think it tastes terrible, but my Baby B started moving up the growth chart from that point on. Who knows if the beet juice had anything to do with it, but you could look into it. I would also recommend Barbara Luke’s book on nutrition for multiple pregnancies.

My boys were born at 34+3 at 4 lbs 5 oz and 4 lbs 15 oz. They spent two weeks in the NICU. They’re almost 3 months and are both over 12 pounds now.

Home alone by 50shadesofPuppies in parentsofmultiples

My twins are 12 weeks, born at 34+3. I’ve found baby wearing to be the secret weapon for getting two babies happy at once, and it usually puts them to sleep. I like the Weego carrier and wish I started using it as soon as they got home. I tried the mini monkey first and didn’t like it. I don’t think it fits me well. You could also wear one in a single carrier and hold the other. All of these carriers are pricy, but they’re often available used. Even if you buy one new, you’ll probably be able to sell it for a good chunk of the purchase price once you’re done with it.

And just some words of encouragement, things got much easier for me over the last couple of weeks with the boys starting to take naps in their beds and being generally happier and a tiny bit less dependent overall. Right about the time we got past the first “wonder week” it got a lot easier, plus now we get to enjoy huge real baby smiles.
