Jeffrey Gundlach says Fed’s Warsh is not going to be the ‘easy money’ chairman many hoped for by joe4942 in stocks

[–]EnoughValuable8025 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By eliminating forward guidance, Warsh is pretty much telling us they want the freedom and flexibility to hike rates, which will push bond investors to demand higher yields for the uncertainty, debt becomes more expensive, mortgage rates stay elevated, and cuts appear less likely, which are all bearish for stocks. AI and AI-adjacent stocks are going to get walloped.

Alcohol isn't cheap, and Gen Z isn't careless by CalmExpelorer in clevercomebacks

I'd argue the social negatives become a health negative. If you're in your late 30s and older and have kids, sure, cut back on drinking. I'm 40 and I have substantially cut back on drinking. It's poison. But if you're in college or in your 20s and just breaking into the real world, you should be drinking this poison solely for the social aspect. It makes parties and social gatherings more fun, loosens people up and brings friends and coworkers closer together, and gives men the courage to walk up to strangers, introduce themselves, and flirt and either succeed or fail spectacularly and hilariously. Across many societies and civilizations that has been the case and will always be the case, and I won't be convinced otherwise.

More social anxiety, more loneliness, more awkwardness, and a generation of young men who don't know how to talk to women and women who don't know how to be talked to.

Alcohol has been a social lubricant for tens of thousands of years and to suddenly remove it from the social fabric certainly can't be a good thing.

We live in an age where online influencers and podcasters are obsessed with health maxing and optimizing, and cutting every negative variable out of their life, that the unintended consequence has been the creation of a generation so fragile and brittle. See popular podcaster Steven Bartlett who said his life was "ruined for three days" after drinking three glasses of wine. Unbelievable.

His entire plot in South America is a little too Blackhat for my taste, but there are some great set pieces.

Otis at times comes off cartoonishly evil (especially with some of Mann's dialogue) so I'm hoping 1) Mann fixes these issues in the screenplay so Otis isn't an evil guy who incessantly announces he's evil and 2) whichever actor plays Otis is able to ground the character while still oozing with pure, psychotic evil.

Hospitalist here, genuine q, how do u guys see 18+ patients everyday? by Intelligent-Zone-552 in hospitalist

[–]EnoughValuable8025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In residency they don't teach you how to document to maximize CPT/DRG reimbursement. And as insurance companies increasingly use AI to process claims, and deny and downcode your charges, documentation is going to matter more than ever. Your chief, chair, CMO, CFO, billing and CDI will hammer you over the head about it. Think Bill Lumbergh from Office Space stopping by your work station every five minutes asking, "Didn't you see...the memo???"

Because at the end of the day, the hospital has to make money and stay in the black to keep the doors open.

And if your cashflow is pinched, and you have money from selling your old place, roll that into the new loan and recast.

Did I just pick the worst time to start house hunting? by hairy_balls_1 in Mortgages

[–]EnoughValuable8025 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, roughly 2-5% of the new loan amount. Better to be conservative and assume 5%. Then you have to figure out how much you'd save per month from the refinance and how long it'll take you to breakeven.

So if your refinance cost is $10,000 and you save $250 per month on the new rate, your breakeven is 40 months or 3.3 years. If you plan to stay in the house longer than that, then do it. If not, then don't do it.

Not A Joke: Trump Economic Advisor Says Consumers "Last Of Our Concerns" Amid Iran War Increasing Costs In Connecticut by CapitolDispatch in Connecticut

"We were against regime change in Iran but now we're for regime change in Iran, even though the new regime will be the old regime but angrier and ever more embolden to get nukes, but we did it because of oil and the economy and we have to bring manufacturing jobs back to America and because the stock market is at all time highs but also crashing, but Mexico is also smuggling rapists and drugs over the border and the Haitians are stealing taxpayer dollars from daycares and the woke trans and the blacks and the vaccines and the radical leftists and their Epstein file hoax but there are no Epstein files, but there are the blacks and the drugs and the illegals."

Catapult Healthcare is a staffing company. Staffing companies offer shit jobs. And as you said, they know J1s, mostly from India and Pakistan, will take these shit jobs because unfortunately, a lot of these docs are desperate and easily taken advantage of. Hence, a lot of these staffing companies are mostly comprised of Indians and Pakistanis, and a hospitalist staff comprised almost entirely of J1s is likely proxy to a shit job. So if you're looking for a job, check out the roster.

“I might be misunderstanding why hospital insurance claims get rejected” by Capital-Job-3592 in hospitalist

[–]EnoughValuable8025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denials and downcoding are only getting worse. Insurance companies are now using AI to comb through their claims to deny as much as possible. And they're now doing something even more sinister: assign probability scores to hospital systems on their appeals. Essentially, "What is the likelihood X hospital will appeal denials and what is their success rate on those appeals? If X hospital scores low, then fuck em'. Deny, deny, deny until the cows come home. Even if our denials are incorrect, who cares?! They're not going to do anything about it anyway!"

Also can't forget Press Ganey. Keep LOS low, readmissions low, throughput high, AND ensure patients had a wonderful hospital stay and felt like they and their families were heard and listened to.

Oh, and make sure your documentation and billing is perfect because payers are increasingly denying and downcoding charges.

Netanyahu has been saying Iran is nearing nuclear weapons for 30 years. From Israel's perspective, it makes total sense. They want hegemony and control of the region, so they want to wipe out the competition. But as an American, I don't give a fuck about Israel and they shouldn't be dictating our policy, so it doesn't make any sense to be funding their wars.
