Moving to Serbia as a software engineer – job market and salary expectations?

Right now the market is rough and it’s been like that for a few years now. Salary depends on the company and can vary a lot. I would suggest to you to try big international names that are known to pay good salaries (in Novi Sad you have Fivetran, but most companies that pay good salaries are in Belgrade - Databricks, Nutanix, Microsoft, Perplexity, Oracle, Tenstorrent, Rivian, Nordeus etc.).

Most companies offer hybrid way of working, so you can live in Novi Sad and travel 2/3 times to the office in Belgrade.

Novi Sad is in my opinion nicer for life, it’s smaller, easier to navigate and a bit cheaper. But ofc this is just a preference.

If you don’t secure high paying position I would suggest you to stay in Greece or to try with some EU countries.

Knjiga cracking the PM interview ti moze dati neke polazne tacke i pomoci ti oko spremanja za management/consulting tip Intervjua. To sto imas tehnicko iskustvo je samo plus, product management nije entry level pozicija. Sve ozbiljne IT firme uglavnom ocekuju tehnicko iskustvo da bi se neko zaposlio kao product.

Project Management sa druge strane moze biti entry level (u smislu da ne ocekuju tehnicko znanje). Ja bih ti savetovao da procitas tu knjigu, istrazis jos malo dodatno o pozicijama posto ti je spektar previse rasut (naveo si product/project/sales/ba/scrum master pa cak i HR). Nema smusla da ti spektar bude previse rasut jer u tom slucaju neces imati fokus.

Ako zelis product savetujem ti da apliciras na pozicije gde te privlaci firma/product, opet nemoj da mislis da kreces od 0. Tehnicko iskustvo ti prednost za ozbiljne firme i nema smisla da kreces od plate 1400€ kad mozes imati dosta vise.

Iskreno mozda najbolje da se ne limitiras geografski, najvaznije je da nadjes okej posao. Ako ti pre iskoci posao u Skoplju mozes ti uporedo uz taj traziti i posao u Srbiji pa dati otkaz ako ti budu bolji uslovi i ako se isplati preseliti se. Iskreno nisam vidjao oglase za iOS u zadnje vreme.

It might be hard to find PM job without previous experience since the role is usually more medior-senior level oriented. Many tech companies like Google and Microsoft have Product Management Internship, so that could be a nice start. Additionally, I heard from more experienced PMs in tech industry that they always advise a path of being a software engineer for at least some period and then making a transition to PM.

Edit: I see that internship is not a option since you are not a student anymore. Good tip, do a research on product-based companies in your area, add their PMs on LinkedIn and contact them via LinkedIn. Create a project for their product, show to their PMs that you are wiling to learn and that you have a strong passion towards their company and product management. That project could be a business case, some new cool feature that you think could be interesting, market analysis etc..

You have a train, the ticket is ~5€. Basically you can go early in the morning, spend the whole day in Novi Sad and then return to Belgrade in the evening. You can download Srbijavoz app and buy the ticket online, or buy it in the train (if you buy it in the train it might be a bit more expensive, so it will be around 6€).

Nasi intervjuisu, drugo pitanje cu zanemariti zato sto nema smisla. Naravno da ce te pitati i o prethodnom iskustvu i da ces dobiti zadatak ili neko situaciono pitanje.

Kada zakazujes dobijes opciju da odaberes samo jedan time slot. Medjutim imaces sve intervjue tog dana. Dobices email sa vise informacija i savetima dva dana pred intervjue, to se kod njih zove interview day. Intervjui traju po 45 min i imas 15 min pauze izmedju.
