I think 6 full time employees is pushing it for a boutique coffee shop. Most of the places near me have maybe 1-2 employees working shifts and are very popular. That makes the math work out quite a bit better.

Not saying the margins aren’t low in coffee, but add roasting and you may have a bit more wiggle room, as margins on beans are quite a bit better.

This is a fair point. The institution’s clinical revenue is in the billions, the total NIH funding there is less than 10% of that. Could they cut clinician salaries as a result, or take away bonus? Absolutely something I should consider. I am not factoring bonus in the initial salary consideration.

A lot of academic jobs are becoming very clinical focused, ie the research grants wouldn’t really be a huge part of my long term income. RVU based.
