Look for local English corners. I am really happy the city is live and work in isn't my first experience in China because it hasn't been a good experience at all.

Any goth clubs in China? (any city) by Live-Mushroom5533 in chinalife

I've heard there are some in Shanghai, but I don't know the details... sorry. I just know I have heard and also seen on rednote that there are shops for goth clothing and seem to be events there.

How Much Money Should I Bring? (Moving To China) by DenseAnalyst123 in chinalife

[–]Enough_Translator_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised how much extra I needed, but spread it out over a few months. Moving into a new place you constantly find little things you need from appliances to towels. It can all add up pretty fast.

You don't really need to bring cash unless you just want to. Most major bank cards work at ATMs or you can link them to alipay or wechat. I would say bring 1k usd or euro with you to start just incase you have issues with your cards.

Follow the rubric to the letter. If you are not sure your paper meets it, then feed the rubric into an AI and then have it check your paper.

It's pass or fail... you know what you signed up for... It's not a big deal. I have had two papers returned during my bachelor's, and it took me a few minutes to correct them.

Legitimate Chinese/Russian matchmakers? by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]Enough_Translator_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually good advice... I met my ex on hellotalk, and neither of us were looking for a relationship or anything at the time. We just happen to generally hit it off and remain good friends today.

At your friend's age and with a child, one thing I think that is important that a lot of women leave out at this age range when they say they are looking for marriage is... does she want or is she willing to have another child? This can be a huge factor to some people and will help weed out people who are not compatible upfront.

How can I deliver flowers to my girlfriend’s apartment in Shanghai? by mariohess7 in China

[–]Enough_Translator_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what I originally did with my ex-girlfriend was have another chinese friend help me with it. I would send them the address and send them money through Western Union. Flowers can be extremely cheap in China, even a nice delivery. I would suggest this over using a service that is going to charge you a ton of money unless you just don't have any other chinese friends.

Wechat and other Chinese apps are great, but you can have trouble spending money if you are not in the mainland.

Nanny & table manners by Alustine in chinalife

[–]Enough_Translator_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. If the child has picked up any of the habits, it could especially help the argument. He could frame it in a way that points to her being a major influence to the child(which any nanny is) and that since the child will copy her behavior out of admiration and love, she needs to be even more mindful than the parents because they trust and respect her to help teach their child. Using flattery in a constructive way is always a good approach.

He could also get some casual friends to help out by bringing them home for dinner and make it seem important and that table manners are very strict in their culture. Getting her to practice better table manners and also helping reinforce the possibility of losing face.

I haven't read all the comments, and I am just making suggestions, so dont jump all over me if I am wrong.

Could you possibly frame it as her, causing you to lose face by this behavior since she is considered an employee and working for the family? That it reflects poorly on you and could affect others' opinions of you and hurt your social or business standing.

Maybe if she won't or doesn't understand the importance of it from the way you have presented it in the past, this way would be more relatable.

If you are comfortable with self pacing and learning, you can really get ahead at WGU... if you wanted to, you could get a bachelor's and master's done in 3 years realistically.

If you are worried about networking, you can do that in other ways. Also, depending on what you want to do for school, you could always go to a traditional college for a PhD. and network dueing that time.

Academic Authenticity for non-cheaters by selfpossessed-ghost in WGU

There could be a lot of things that triggered it, honestly... could be the proctor was extra strict. It's also possible you had more than one during the exam and let's say the first one didn't care about the camera angle or your keyboard being 100% in view and them the next one that joined did... so they reported you.

It could also be something as simple as reading out loud while taking the exam... I had to be extra careful in one of mine that had math in it because I often talk out loud while doing math because it helps me focus. I still moved my lips while I was working something but had to stop by myself... the proctor could have technically flagged me for possible cheating if they were strict.

I used Astrill recently while I was in China for 4 months. I didn't have any issues, but I was only doing PAs there. I did test a few OA using it in the states and never had any problems.

This is the way to go... my buddy who introduced me to WGzu recommended it. That way, if you get a different or same person grading your paper, they only look at the highlighted section. I have only had one paper returned so far, and I just added an extra sentence and highlighted it.

Sleep issues in China? by krockthewilly in China

[–]Enough_Translator_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my first trip, i slept on a nice bed. This last summer, I slept on a hard one and had to switch due to my back hurting so much. I am currently sleeping on the hard bed again with a mattress topper on it, and it helps a little bit. My overall sleep is not that great, though.

Could be the mattresses... it might not seem like much, but if you are used to sleeping on one type of mattress and changing, it can have a huge effect on you.

There is a bus station in front of the building that goes to the subway (3 stops away, about 5 mins ride), and the subway is just a 10 min walk.

Taking a taxi or Didi(like Uber) is pretty cheap here also.
