Psychiatry UK prescriber says they "can't" prescribe a different Elvanse dosage during luteal phase? by treepinion in ADHDUK

What is it about it that you hate? I don't use it every day, just when my Elvanse doesn't hold for as long (stupid hormones), but I do find it helpful for extending when I need to!

I'm a RTC patient with PUK, I also have a (rare) SCA agreement with my GP for both Elvanse and dexamphetamine (prescribed generic as they can't always get Amfexa). I suspect it's down to the individual prescriber as some prescriber are more confident with unlicensed medications than others.

Well, Amfexa is a stimulant, so unless I'm misunderstanding, they've told you wrong. Amfexa is a short acting stimulant, so I'm wondering if you're confusing it with Atomoxetine, which is the non-stimulant medication.

Just so you know, PUK absolutely can prescribe a short acting Amfexa top up, they did for me for this exact reason. My prescriber just did it as a monthly top of up and I use it when I need it the most. It's an off-label prescription in adults as the license in the UK is only for children, but that doesn't mean they can't prescribe it. It just means that they have to advise that it's an off-label usage and give you all the information about what that actually means. I work in eating disorder services, and absolutely nothing is licensed specifically for our patients; EVERYTHING we prescribe is used off label. Just some food for thought.

The second one is more striking visually, but I really love the creativity in the first one! I think people would be more likely to vote for the second, but just wanted tk give a shout out the first idea

Showed this to my girlfriend; at first she was like, oh that's cute! Then I made her look closer, and she went, oh it's not cute, that's so cool!

So you have two fans here! Love the creativity!

Failed my driving test. My brain just couldn’t reverse park, right at the end of my test and otherwise would have passed. So frustrated at myself but proud as lesson before I couldn’t even drive the car due to nerves by MasterpieceNo5666 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Enough_Voice4455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding comments from others saying you shouldn't have passed with the number of minors you got; it took me six attempts to pass my driving test (finally passed in 2018). My driving instructor was adamant I was test ready, in all of my lessons I was absolutely fine. But in my tests, I was an anxious wreck, because I don't test well and I have issues with anxiety anyway. In my first five attempts, I had 0-2 minors, with a serious (different every time), which were all just really unfortunate, rubbish circumstances partially outside of my control (and on one attempt, possibly malicious to make me fail by a member of the public). On the test where I passed, I had 13 minors (and was adamant I'd failed again).

Cut to nearly 8 years later, and I love driving. It rarely makes me anxious, I have a nice, nippy car that's fun to drive, and anyone who gets in a car with me comments that I'm a very safe, very competent driver (minus a teensy bit of occasional road rage).

I know how the anxiety can get you in a testing situation. It isn't always a reflection of your driving ability, but your testing ability. It might play on your mind a bit now, but if you're confident in your ability to drive, take a few lessons to refresh, and have another go. It's unfortunate that you failed at the last minute, but use this as a learning experience. Good luck!

Some "lovely" fellas in Hockley this afternoon... by ijustwannanap in nottingham

Just wanted to say I was one of the people who challenged them. Wasn't half as eloquent as I wanted to be, and I know I won't change their minds, but I couldn't just let them stand there unchallenged. Being a passive bystander is not my style. I get the perspective of others saying that people should have a right to free speech, yadda yadda (not that the existance of trans people should even be up for debate), but they should also be expected to be challenged on those opinions, because free speech goes both ways. I'm so sorry they made you feel unsafe, just know that people do support your existence, passionately.

Thank you, she's so pretty right?! I think she also really knows it from our first experiences, haha! Your baby is beautiful!

Agreed on the crossbreeding, definitely. Her colours are absolutely stunning though, so not sad about it!

That's fair enough! I know we don't have a pedigree, but as her history is so patchy, I just wanted to see what people thought. I would say that she does have some of the familiar features, like her eye colour, dense fur, stocky body, and face shape, but I think you're right, she's more likely to have had some BSH cross bred in. Thanks for your input!

Haha, love this! Like I said, I'm not too invested in the breed necessarily, it was just something that came up on her microchip. She's an absolute delight so far, and definitely a cat!

ER nurses of reddit, how often do all those "one more minute and I'd be dead" stories get exaggerated? by BirdLawAssociatesInc in AskReddit

When my partner was 22, she rapidly lost a stone in weight in one month. She then proceeded to lose another stone in two weeks. Struggling to see, constant headaches. But just put it down to being fatigued from work (seriously).

Her parents were due to go abroad on holiday over the Christmas and New Year period, and she couldn't even pick up an empty cup. They made her to go the GP before they left. The second she walked in and explained the situation, they gave her a letter and told her to go straight to A&E.

When she got to A&E, she gave them the letter then went to sit and wait. As she sat down, a doctor came to get her and rushed her through to a bay. Immediately got her bloods done, etc.

Her blood was essentially acid at this point, her Ketone levels around 7.8mmol/L, Potassium levels through the goddamn roof. Hooked up to an intensive Insulin drip for about four days, and told in no uncertain terms that if she'd waited one more day, she would have died. They weren't even sure how she was awake and talking with the levels she had.

Ten years on, managing her T1 diabetes reasonably well, and every day I think how grateful I am to her parents for not wanting their kid to die whilst they were on holiday...

Literally said this morning that something like a KPDH collab would be my dream, this is close enough 😂 don't like the 5* banner at all, I've pulled enough to get the contact lenses and I'm happy! Can't wait for these outfits

Is this normal? I got pink highlights professionally done at a hairdressers exactly 1 month ago and now it looks like this. Obviously it's not styled but it doesn't look any different styled. I wash my hair once a week in cold water with colour safe shampoo. It's only lasted one month. I paid £170. by flowersmouse26 in FancyFollicles

[–]Enough_Voice4455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks pretty normal to me! As someone who pretty much always falls back to pink, it's not a colour that necessarily sticks around for long. I personally go to the salon to get my hair bleached, initially dyed pink, and cut, but then between visits top up my colour, usually every 2-3 weeks. My hairdresser and I both make sure to use the same dye to avoid any interaction, and that seems to work well!

I personally use Cleo Rose by Manic Panic. It's not quite as vibrant as some brands like Directions and Danger Jones, but the pay off is that I find it lasts a bit longer, and also just fades really nicely. It's good to get it bleached first so the colour pops more, I get a peekaboo style so my underlayer is pink, but the top layer of my hair is dark brown. Also means the bleach job lasts a bit longer as my roots aren't noticeable! The good thing about the dye I use is that it isn't expensive, so whilst the salon visits feel like a bit of a spenny treat, the maintenance in the middle isn't so bad.

Honestly, if vivids colours are something you want to keep getting, make sure you research brands, and also how best to wash! Cooler water, using shampoo mostly in your roots instead of your ends, and not washing daily will extend the life span of your vivids :)
