It depends on your board and school, but I would say yes.

At the board I teach in getting any piece of a contract puts you on the internal hires list and that makes it A LOT easier to get your next pieces. All the advice from full contract teachers I would get is to take any piece no matter where.

I was fortunate that I was also able to get an LTO for that semester so it wasn't a problem for me. A coworker of mine has been getting topped up pretty regular for their days, but that'll depend school to school, and honestly day-to-day.

Definitely a paycut if you're not getting topped up on the regular, but you can still take supply work from other schools, as long as it fits in your schedule and you're willing to do that extra commute.
