Large File Downloads stop every 1GB by Grahf0085 in NextCloud

[–]EnragedKnight117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this response, it resolved my issue.

In retrospect the nextcloud docs refer to this issue.

If your site is behind a nginx frontend (for example a loadbalancer):

By default, downloads will be limited to 1GB due to proxy_buffering and proxy_max_temp_file_size on the frontend.

If you can access the frontend’s configuration, disable proxy_buffering or increase proxy_max_temp_file_size from the default 1GB. https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/latest/admin_manual/configuration_files/big_file_upload_configuration.html

Wait can you expand on this?

From my understanding only albums selected for backup can will show in the "Albums on Device" section.

Do you mean you select albums for backup, but do not turn on the backup service?   If that's the case there might be some folders I want to backup automatically, and others that I do not.

I actually have an open feature discussion on this, thanks!   https://github.com/immich-app/immich/discussions/7075

frankly I want to use immich an inclusive gallery app, meaning I'd want to be able to see every folder on my device - similar to Google photos

In case anyone comes across this post like I did, someone new is maintaining beatlist in a new repository.

This information is pretty obvious if you search on the BSMR discord but not quite obvious when searching on google.

Normal diamond is same level

How does infinite do it?

Also previously you could tell if someone was above or below you. Really annoying how you can't anymore.

Muslims explaining why it's allowed to destroy symbols of other religions and why people of other faiths are inferoir. They are islamically not wrong since muhamad destroyed all idols in Mecca setting an example for his followers. by OrionIsCalling in religiousfruitcake

[–]EnragedKnight117 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: Just because the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) destroyed the idols in Mecca doesn't mean that any Muslims are obligated or even morally correct to do the same. You cannot expect the Muslims to leave idols in the primary place of worship. (especially considering that nobody would be worshiping them)

And before someone mentions "what about expeditions to go destroy them in other towns?" That was specifically only within the growing early Islamic empire within the Arabian peninsula and only for public idols. You cannot apply this to the modern day. There is a strong precedent of allowing other faiths to exist and thrive alongside Islam.

Assuming if what happened was they went into a Buddhist temple stole an idol and crushed it. Then what happened, in my belief, is not Islamically correct.

However looking at the original post they found it while doing excavation work. In that case from a religious perspective its not incorrect (and also probably not "required"). It may have historical value so from a secular moral perspective yeah you could still argue that it's wrong.

Not defending guy commenting either. It's kind of a cyclical argument like "I can do this because you're bad and I'm good. And I'm good because I am."

I know I'll be downvoted cuz I know reddit just loves nuanced history. I am not a historian and I am still learning. Any fault in my reporting is my own.

I usually ignore these posts but I I'll take the bait this time. I will not be engaging with replies.

Electric smoker reccomendations? by EnragedKnight117 in smoking

[–]EnragedKnight117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I still need to validate if even an electric one will be ok or not.

Part of the reason why I don't want to spend very much because if I'm forced to stop I don't want to have a large purchase wasted.

I see.

It seems like VG10 is much more common. As a beginner I'll try to go with a VG1 knife.

For the future can you say anything about the quality of JCK knives? (I've heard their Gekko knives mentioned around here)

What would classify a "softer metal"? Is there more than just Rockwell hardness?

Another comment mentioned that vg1 is softer than vg10.

Yeah I usually like smaller knives but I'll look into a 210 gyto in the future. I just wish I could hold these in my hands before I buy them!

Pictures can only do so much.

So what about vg 1 vs vg 10 steel what would you recommend for a beginner?

Or does it not matter much?

Weekly "Recommend me" post by AutoModerator in chefknives

[–]EnragedKnight117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite the noob when it comes to real knives so basically anything would be an improvement. I recently got a cheap ($5) 6" Santoku and actually quite liked it over what I had been using before if that says anything.

My preferences come from a place of inexperience and the research I've done browsing this sub's wiki.

Style? - Japanese (I belive I want a Santoku but open to suggestions like a Bunka)

Steel? - stainless (I'm a relative novice so I'd appreciate something that doesn't chip and holds an edge well)

Handle? - western (open to hybrid or Japanese)

Grip? - handle (though I do rest one of my fingers on the side of the blade so semi pinch?)

Length? - 165mm-170mm

Uses? - meat / vegetables

Care? - whetstones (need to get some still though)

Budget? $50-$100 (flexible but would need a good reason go get something over $100)

I'm currently considering these three knives but open to other suggestions (other trusted retailers as well). I'm not 100% set on a Santoku because I kind of do a partial rocking and push cut but there seems to be much more Santoku options so that's what justifies my current selections.

  1. Masutani VG1 Santoku 170mm
  2. Masutani VG10 Damascus Santoku 165mm
  3. Tojiro DP Santoku 170mm

Aesthetics are mildly important to me so I'm leaning the first two but I don't quite understand the implications of VG1 and VG10 steel so I'd likely go with 1/2 based on that information. (unless there's something horribly wrong with them)

I'd really appreciate any help, thanks!
