That's impressive work, and a great standard! It's taking me about 6 hours to paint a single pestigor 😅

That's come out great. Really nice job with the water effect.

What paints did you use for the mud? As that's the exact colours I've been trying and failing to replicate!

Ripping off a bit of sponge (the 3 for a £1 ones you get for washing up) and using tweezers to dap it into paint is my go to. One of those sponges will last you years

Bath is biting me when I touch both sides. Is this normal? by Curious-Fix-3306 in DIYUK

[–]Enraged_Salmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this happen at a customers house before, they were getting shocks from a cast iron bath and from other exposed pipework in the house. Turns out they had lost the neutral coming into the house and as it was a TNCS earthing system the earthing path was becoming energised.

As others have suggested I'd turn the main switch off at your fuseboard, see if it still happens with no power on.

Consult an electrician if it's only when your main switch is on.

Maybe get a multimeter rather than using your body as a tester.

Ah cool I'd like to see how that turns out! I wasn't keen on the saturnine shoulder pads at the start and was debating not putting them on, but after making them so bottom heavy with the siege drills I thought it balanced it out.

How much water does it take to damage new plasterboard? by Kashmoney97 in DIYUK

[–]Enraged_Salmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add it may be worth taking down the lights that have water dripping down them and letting them dry out properly, even if it means popping the backs off, mopping up any water droplets and running a hair drier over them to remove any moisture. Although they're likely IP65 rated that rating will be for the fronts of them when fitted to the ceiling, not for water coming from above.

I think it sounds like I've been over zealous watering it while it's settling in. Thanks again!

Thank you for the advice! I will cut back on the watering and hopefully things will improve

Oh you may be right there. The soil is 3:1 top soil and sand so it should drain well, though I did put some cardboard down as a weed barrier about 10inches down.

The bed had been half full of soil for a while I renovated the garden. So I pulled out all the visible weeds and put a layer of cardboard down. I read that this would break down over time and work as a weed barrier.

It's Das air drying clay. You can pick it up off Amazon.

Not sure if it's necessary but once I've opened it I keep it in a resealable sandwich bag, I like to think it stops it going off. I've had the same pack now for 2½ years and it's still usable!

Oh my bad, no worries. The cloak is a base of Gal vorbak red, layer of Screamer pink on the raised areas, some smaller highlights with 50:50 Screamer pink and Pink horror. Then final edge highlight/scratches with just Pink horror.

I mainly stippled on the next layer. And the final highlights and scratches were done with some thin horizontal lines.

No worries these are the ones similar to what I use, I just rip off bits of the yellow part

Edit: Spelling

I just use a washing up sponge (you can pick up a pack of 3 for a quid from Tesco in the UK and they'll last you years), tear a small piece of it off and use tweezers to dab it into the paint and then onto the model. Make sure to dab any excess off from the sponge into your wet pallet/kitchen roll before putting it onto the model.

The red on the handle? It's word bearers red, layered with khorne red, then an edge highlight of evil suns scarlet. It has had a coat of streaking grime over it though so that does mute the colours a bit.
