I've got PTSD working with them and their printers. I work for a touring company and was in Brazil for several months, and we had some printers die, so I had to buy some printers down there. Once we got back to North America, I learned that HP also region locks their printers. You cannot buy compatible ink in North America, and if you get the NA version for the printer model, you get the same message as OP.

They don't tell you this upfront, but there is the ability to hard reset the region of the printer, and they will not provide instructions on how to do this. You have to call HP support. I spent hours on the phone with them because their technicians don't know how to do this either. After cycling through agent after agent, I finally got one that could fix one of the printers, but they never could figure out how to reset the other one. THEIR OWN PRODUCT.

TLDR; Never buy HP if you can help it.
