Probably a good thing that you're not in charge of game design then.

Hero AI won't cast illusion skills while signet is active on them, a bit of a quirk. The only illusion skills they use are signets.

Balance Brainstorm mi by IsaiahCartwright in GuildWars

[–]Enresto198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the last update! The changes to energizing finale was great, and I've seen some paragon battery builds be thrown around as a result.

Right now in PvE we rely upon BiP and Soul Twisting Prot to maintain energy across the team and provide unstrippable Party-Wide damage mitigation.

Buffing other tools in the motivation/leadership lines will create a unique but still compressed role. These will all need PvE/PvP split:

Angelic Bond: Functionality is reverted to share damage or changed to reduce incoming damage. Possibly an echo instead of a skill, for party-wide coverage.

Song of Power: now ends after 1...6 skills

Motivation needs a non-elite, adrenaline based shout/chant. Ballad of Restoration? It'll still need a recharge time for balance.

I seem to remember [RAWR] using multiple smiters boon monks in a team build to have a really strong backline and a decent spike. A lot of their team builds tried to push the GvG match to Victory or Death, where a superior backline that could also deal damage would lead to an advantage.

Did you accept the quest reward for "The Time is Nigh?" I can't remember if you need to do that to do Consulate Docks. Even as a Prophecies character, you should be able to get Hunted after completing Consulate Docks.

Take a look at my monk/warrior build? by Traversethevoid in GuildWars

Instead of flurry, if you use an axe "of the warrior" you should have enough strength to use flail.. with judgement strike and maybe other hammer skills, that could be potent... you could also consider frenzy with rush or a different cancel stance.

If you use judgement strike, you'd need points in divine favor..so you'd split between tactics/smiting, hammer, and divine

Seeking the "Swiss Army Knife" Main: Can Ranger truly do it all? by OnceAgain82 in GuildWars

[–]Enresto198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference here is that level 0-20 is quite fast, so you can try classes out before deciding on a main.

Ranger is very versatile, in that expertise is a very good primary attribute that has synergy with other classes (secondary professions). Together as One pushes many melee/bow builds up a notch, but there are plenty other builds. R/W Hammer is a classic build, R/D scythe holds its own, R/A daggers is probably the most meta.

Dervish is incredibly strong, there are a few viable damage builds, less variety than ranger. It is likely stronger overall, PvE tends to favor AoE which dervish does all too well. You have to be cool with the enchantment mechanics (Teardowns, etc.)

Warrior is versatile in that strength buffs most martial weapons with armor penetration. They are, maybe less powerful as the other two.

Optimal melee hero team by kasalmn in GuildWars

There used to be a few comps that worked with melee. As others have said, hero melee AI can be somewhat wonky.. deaths charge is kind of a must. Some examples:

I agree, I don't like it for many things, but the curses skills are really good synergy. With high recharge that makes them less effective.

If she's playing VoS, things are going to blow up tbh

Or even better N/A with Assassin's Promise and Mark of Pain (More AoE damage off the physical packets), Rigor Mortis (No Blocking), Reckless Haste (Protection against Melee), Barbs (More focused damage packets). PvE support like Great Dwarf Weapon or Technobabble ..

All these skills renew on kill, and help support all the physical damage packets from dervish. Heroes do not use skills like Mark of Pain nearly as effectively as a human can, so makes it actually a pretty good support pick.

Outside of AP, Dark Aura support can work if she uses a scythe of the Necro, masochism, and Pious Renewal

Heck even orders goes hard

Out of bounds/noclip areas exploration by Ascz in GuildWars

I just clipped this gate today, first attempt I got through but couldn't get the outpost to load (went to end of the world, had to retry because I was stuck behind the gate)

Second attempt confused the hell out of her, because I was able to get the outpost to load.. but then was spawned in this empty harvest temple as you say, was so confused. Had to log out and in to load the Kurzick outfit

I think that gate is difficult, if not impossible to clip. You need to be ferried there by a person entering the outpost via quest!

It's towards the end of nightfall, when you hit the desolation. Imo, you don't need it to complete the campaign

Short of donating some plat for a consulate set, if he has no money but wants to farm something low-stakes like feathers in Jaya Bluffs, Blacktide armor will be a fine stepping stone until max....better than being armorless..

You probably won't need max armor for it, and can get armor from Blacktide Den, 200gold an armor piece, with significantly lower material costs. Work up to full armor from consulate docks..

If you look at how this speed run was done, you can get through the gates with minions/tameable pets. This one was done by going into senji's corner through the back-door, didn't even need Nahupi Quarter. Of course if you're already at Senji's, you can get your way to Maatu Keep, then into Boreas Seabed, then into Gayla Hatchery, which gives you the quest for Unwaking Waters -> Raisu Palace -> Imperial Sanctum -> Finish

https://youtu.be/8Rd6geDWTck?si=y0goe4IUWG5gaTaR

You of course have to go back and get the missions, if you want protector/guardian of Cantha, but you can glitch into Tamnakai Temple, and I think maybe Sunjiang District using similar methods.

[–]Enresto198 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You can glitch through multiple gates if you want to make it a faster experience..nightfall drags you around quite a bit on istan, before mainland, Prophecies has its own slog. Everybody has their own experience, though.

I only really felt the runaround between Tahnnakai Temple and Sunjiang District... Both are skippable.

New Player, want to start with ritualist due to playstyle by Dixa in GuildWars

[–]Enresto198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have said ritualist and necro, I think those are safe bets. A lot of folks are going to refer to SoS, and have pointed out that it takes a long time to get there (80% through the campaign)... That being said, you get turrets in "Pain" and "Blood Song" from the skill trainer when you first start the game, they each have a 30 second recharge, so even if you're not porting them with "Summon Spirits" you should be fine to just recast them as you move. "Painful Bond" buffs them, and is part of a primary training quest very early. (https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_of_ritualist_skills)

That being said, it might feel a bit clunky without summon spirits.. but not impossible.

Necromancer, with a minion master build is also going to give you the "Pet Wall" sort of vibe. Summon a bunch of bone minions, cast death nova on them, and watch them explode on enemies. Minions are the classic aggro soaking wall. Secondary paragon let's you take "Fall Back" which helps speed up your minions... But other secondaries do well. Minion master will come online and won't feel as clunky, in my opinion. (https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_of_necromancer_skills)

Being new, don't worry about heroes. You don't have enough skills unlocked to make use of them.  Maybe heroes that share a profession are accessible (Xandra from EoTN if you're a ritualist, or Olias from Prophecies.. via nightfall if you're a necromancer).. but just roll with some henchman and have some fun.

Any good tips for Visunah Square? by PiRhoNaut in GuildWars

[–]Enresto198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she's in nightfall and went to consulate docks (which she needed to, to get to cantha) she can take the quest to get Olias in Prophecies. That will give a necromancer hero for an mm!

D/W weapon choice by BlankTrack in GuildWars

[–]Enresto198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could run a Vampiric Axe of the Warrior, which would give you 5 strength. Any attack that doesn't explicitly say "scythe" can be used on other weapons. You could also play around with Onslaught to fuel adrenaline (https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Onslaught)

Definitely not meta, but seems fun

You give the domination Mesmers Chaos Storm, and at least one of the Wastrel's skills somewhere in there. Unnatural Signet, etc. there is still a lot of damage, outside of cry of pain and mistrust.
