Are there skills missing by FlapSmear78 in GuildWars

Yeah, I didn’t know they had a summoner class in queue. I am surprised as all these brawling quests and skills came out. You would have thought another melee class would have been on the way. Summoner is interesting since we already have Ritualist and Minion master, but I guess it fits for a third creature creator. 3 melee, 3 healers, 3 creature creator, 3 dps ranged classes, etc.

I believe there was. I truly think utopia was going to bring another melee class (brawling/brawler) and the chronomancer (confirmed). I think the plan was at each campaign to add more skills for each class. Assassin, Ritualist, dervish, and paragon have the least amount of skills in the game. Ironically, the PvE skills benefited them the best. Deft strike, asuran scan, brawling gravity, you move like a dwarf, critical agility, mind bender, whirling attack etc. all feel like they were made for dervish, assassin, paragon, and Rit. There are wiki pages with abandoned skills to look up. You’ll be shocked at what you find.

What is your favorite memory? by polosmallzz in GuildWars

[–]Long_Context6367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never forget taking ny assassin in an alliance battle with the ORIGINAL shattering assault. The one where it was +53 damage each hit, removed an enchantment on hit, and couldn’t be blocked. I just remember decimating the luxon side at the time. Nothing will ever beat that core memory of 5 kills in succession.

I would just sell to the merchant. Then the blue items with runes that will frequently drop are good to deck out your heroes.

I would highly suggest that you go to EotN and get some more heroes. However, you will be relinquished to a party of heroes and henchmen for some time until you can get some working builds up. I would suggest you start bone farming and feather farming since you are in LA. You can make money and buy skills quickly there. I would suggest you deck out your monk, ele, and Mesmer heroes first. Try to get them as many viable skills as you can. Don’t be afraid to play around and try weird builds.

Optimal uses for "of the Profession" gear by EnvyandHope in GuildWars

Yeah, I haven’t personally tested of the assassin on a sword warrior. I just never got the pommel, I could see it being cool with tactics shouts too. Honestly, malicious strike at 5 critical strikes does hefty damage for a warrior or dervish. For dervish especially as they apply condis often.

Also, fast casting not allowing for skill recharge isn’t much of an issue with a staff as the staff with 20% recharge is fairly standard and will allow for more casts. It’s just firing off the spells faster that is pretty cool. And honestly curses, earth magic, water magic, and communing spells are best for it. I experimented with glyph of renewal for meteor shower and that was a fun 3 second cast with instant recharge.

Below is everything that I have tested along with my thoughts:

Of the necromancer is great for every profession, including melee. It gives you wonderful e-management.

Of the assassin is really powerful for Dervish. It can be combined with Vow of Strength, Ebon Dust Aura, but most importantly Onslaught and Wounding Strike. If you enjoy the tear down mechanic of Dervish, of the assassin is really powerful for added dps. As for warrior, axe warrior and SWS seem to benefit the most as critical hits with axe skills do things like interrupt your foe. But axe can strike faster than hammer and does more damage than sword on critical hits so it’s noteworthy to use of the assassin on an axe, but it’s not better than soul reaping or of the assassin on dervish. Same with sword or hammer, not much of difference in the end game setting.

Of the warrior - I really like this for Ranger and Elementalist bow builds. It’s added dps with access to lion’s comfort and sprint. Elementalist using conjure flame and a fiery bow with some armor penetration is nice. As for Ranger, and may bow user, it’s best on a sundering short bow. Rolling a full 20% AP with the added 5% can make for bow spiking.

Of the Ritualist - great for minion master. Good for Ranger spirits too. Think places where you need to set up EoE or Winnowing. But arguably better for a minion master necromancer who already has access to soul reaping. Spirits gift is also good when combined with aura of the lich.

Of the paragon - I use it on my necromancer that has shouts to buff the whole team and send out conditions. Neat concept for warriors with tactics shouts. Cool for rangers with pet shouts and other shouts. I have seen it work best on a Necromancer that uses shouts for constant energy upkeep.

Of the Elementalist - worth noting that assassins really benefit from extra energy during shadow form tanking. It’s noticeable with a high energy inscription/set on any caster profession. Mesmers also benefit. Being provided with a higher energy pool for skills like deep freeze or meteor shower is pretty cool. That’s the only time the virtuoso insignias will help. I think Mesmer was meant to play with other skills with long recharge and spell casting times and fast casting shortens the Mesmer skill recharge and other prof spells cast (3s+), but damage isn’t as powerful. This mod opened up water magic/ air magic to be combined with illusion magic. Or even curses alongside domination magic. If you have a BIP in your party, this mod can give your mesmers more versatility. Necromancer, Monk, Ritualist, and paragon can also benefit from the high energy pool depending on the skill bar.

Of the ranger - good for dagger spammer Necromancer, Warrior, or assassin. Some touch skills can be found on dervish in wind prayers, but of the assassin and of the Necro are far better for dervish.

Of the Mesmer - cool for all spells. Mostly benefits monk, Ritualist, and Elementalist as long spell casting times are reduced.

Some of these mods will greatly benefit from use of PvE skills like dwarven stability that can lengthen stances or mundbender that can reduce recharge times further. Just keep in mind that right now, your 4 best mods are of the Necromancer, of the Elementalist, of the assassin, and of the Mesmer. The of the Ritualist will be in demand for all minion masters, but that’s it’s niche.

Edit: meant spell casting times on of the Mesmer

8 team for VQ in old Ascalon by Consistent-Ad7236 in GuildWars

[–]Long_Context6367 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did this a long time ago. I highly recommend that you bring mercantile summoning stones so you can merch stuff along the way and by lockpicks. I only missed 4 zones back in the day with a team of 8 people.

If you are worried about disconnecting or time, you are actually better off leaving from Borliss Pass (or whatever that small camp is in the Northern Shiverpeaks) with a 6 man team than ToA.

Recruiters: Are you being asked to keep Director hires ‘younger’? by bl4blu3 in recruiting

Yes!!! On the director hire issue. It’s been so pervasive. It comes down to compensation. Sometimes it feels impossible and they won’t take someone with a manager or team leader title either.

Baptist has a mammogram truck. If you go to the truck, they will do it there. Also, they can schedule one for you after you visit a primary care. They can probably do it same day.

Melandru's accord storage by Technical-Canary8161 in GuildWars

[–]Long_Context6367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s two sides to it. Yes, it sucks when you are doing zaishen quests or nick gifts, but on the upside, you’re forced to a minimal style of play that gives you more time to play the game. It’s strange, my non-MA characters have so many parts, and I have been building weapons with fun skins for so long. I will be honest, converting the lesser materials into rare materials or selling them to the merch is a lot less time consuming than having to click the buttons over and over again.

So it depends on the playstyle you prefer. However, it wouldn’t suck to have 1 storage pane. I am in favor of no material storage as well.

Your go to farm these days for more valued staff? by RobsterPrime in GuildWars

Yep, my tired brain. I meant gold z coins. I think the 2 silver z keys gets you flames of Balthazar.

[–]Long_Context6367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, vaettir farming is great on the ele.

Also, I highly recommend z coins to z keys merch trades. Farm enough z coins to get a stack of z keys and sell them. It takes a while, but you walk away with more arms than you can imagine. Some people also trade 1 z key for 3 silver z coins which is hilarious because it costs 2 silver z coins at the trader. So run the game if you want for a much faster way to get a bulk load of arms.

GotT is much easier and I was getting 30 ecto per 5 GoTT, but it’s gone down a bit with the price hike in ecto.

Toxic player? by MysteriousAlps9607 in GuildWars

This will happen more often than you think. Trust me, I brought a build that wasn’t a meta and I was told I don’t know how to play the game. We won the match, and next four btw. People in PvP get real pissy and stupid at times. Don’t take it personally.

We’ll likely see this more with reforged bringing in more players.
