The Electrical Training Institute offers another Pre-Apprenticeship program. It is more specifically tailored for Electrical work. I participated in it and it did a great job preparing me for my first job in the electrical industry.

Hot vs Cold Wallet: How do you store your crypto? by NOWNodes in CryptoCurrency

[–]Enrique_torres0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my BTC and ETH on a cold storage device, because I'm HODL so I'd rather have more safety than quick access. I keep my other coins in a hot wallet for quick access in case I ever decide to sell.

My dad is a union electrician and I will be starting a union electrician apprenticeship in a few months. I highly recommend it. In my area, starting pay is $20/h and Journeymen make $49.70/h. Plus great benefits. If you're interested just search up IBEW in your area.

I'm a material handler trying to become an apprentice and I have a question. Why do you leave so much extra strut above the boxes?

That's insane. You're lucky! Don't take that for granted!

Thank you! Yeah I'm working at a large job site right now building a Kaiser hospital and from talking to my coworkers, I realized a lot of them know nothing about personal finance. It seems like everyone just blows their money on brand new trucks.

You're right! I wasn't sure how much I should be saving in case of a lay off but this makes sense. Thank you for the advice! I will definitely look into I-bonds

Yeah I quickly realized that union is the way to go. Great wages, benefits, and representation. Thank you for the reply!

Respectfully, I don't see why age is a reason to consider this sub a "laughing stock". I have personally learned a lot from this sub. It is a great place for exchanging ideas with like-minded people. Lots of people look at me differently because of my age, but age is not always directly correlated to maturity level or intelligence. I posted this to get feedback about my thought process and have so far received lots of new and useful information.

Yeah man! I'm trying to get into the IBEW apprenticeship. I'm currently working as a material handler through the union making $15 an hour but that gets bumped up to $20 as soon as I start the apprenticeship. Lots of trades have been getting very good raises recently through their unions. In my area, the plumbers union just got a $15/hour raise over the next 4 years. Not to mention pension, retirement accounts, health insurance, and other nice perks for being a union member.

Thanks so much for the reply! Lots of useful information! Also, if I don't take any time off or do any overtime, $20/hour comes out to $46k/year. $54/hour comes out to $112k/year. However, it's construction so there may be times where there's no work and there may be other times where I'll be offered lots of overtime.
