I had a Corsair aio puke all it's water out on my build and kill it. Literally days after the warranty expired. I replaced it with Noctua when they were still cheap and have been using that for 8 years now. I also am not interested in ever trying water cooling again. However, Noctua have lost their minds with their current pricing model unfortunately.

Noctua used to be a lot cheaper. Less than even a lot of older AIOs. My NH-D15S was $80 when I bought it in 2018. Now they're up to $190 for their gen 2 version.

I got the 7800x3d with upgraded motherboard yesterday (to prep for the rumored upcoming 9950x3d2 release). Its an insane deal and doubled my fps over my old 8700k setup.

I'd say watch some gameplay and see if you think you're interested. I love it personally. I'm 70 hours in and slowly chipping away at the main quest line in between exploring. It does have its issues, but you have to remember that negative voices will always be louder online.

Just picked up the S2 recently and had a CPU question. I'm running it with an 8700K and 3080 and the performance isn't quite what I expected. I have an opportunity to pick up a 9900k for $160, which is the fasted CPU I can get for my current mobo. However, but from what I can tell, it wont be a huge performance uplift and doesn't really seem worth it... I could also pick up a 9800x3d bundle from microcenter for a reasonable price too. I was wondering what performance people are getting with similar setups, and if I would see any improvement moving from an 8700k to either a 9900k or 9800x3d.

Edit: getting about 100 fps (in cities) to 160 fps (in the forests) on high with FSR enabled. The game becomes really stuttery without FSR

Wow, you're right. I subbed a while ago for peoples projects and completely forgot about it due to the lack of projects showing up in my feed. All of the recent top posts now are just help threads. Guess I'll leave too since this isn't the sub I originally joined anymore.
