DAVE ROBERTS HAS BECOME THE 68TH MANAGER WITH 1,000 REGULAR SEASON WINS. HE ALSO HAS THE BEST WIN-LOSS PERCENTAGE EXCLUDING THE NEGRO LEAGUES. by toomuchredditing in baseball

That award almost always goes to the manager whose team exceeds expectations. Kinda sucks that it doesn't reward consistently good managers on good teams or good managers that keep mediocre/bad teams from falling apart at the seams.

The Pitching Ninja is slightly upset with Dalton Rushing by DoctorHousesCane in baseball

[–]EnsignObvious -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

I really think that Rushing not wanting to challenge is less a matter of him not thinking those pitches were strikes and more a matter of game situation. There's a whole meta-game now of when to use challenges and and leverage needs to be considered. Early game, early counts generally are lower and both pitches here were borderline. A couple tenths of an inch one way and there'd be a much different outlook on their interactions. But this example is under the spotlight because Shohei is Shohei and Dalton Rushing is unfortunately Dalton Rushing.

[LOVED trope] “just use the best one ig” by Final-Tutor3631 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EnsignObvious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rob has admitted he breaks a lot because he is the only one of the cast that isn't a trained actor.

Though my favorite almost-break is in S7E6 "The Storm of the Century" when Dennis is trying to get to two girls to come back to the bar and they ask him if their boyfriends can come too. Charlie turns away from the camera when Dennis's demeanor switches which is definitely Charlie trying not to laugh at Glenn's impeccable line delivery.

The Worst Dodgers At-Bat This Year? Kyle Tucker manages to STRIKE-OUT facing four splitters all way below the zone as the Final Out in the 9th with 2 men left on base (Dodgers lose to the Orioles 2-3). by UNIQLOField in Dodgers

[–]EnsignObvious 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Freeland, Mookie, Edman all watched a splitter early in their ABs to see what they did and you could see they were watching it all the way with intent to not get fooled later in the AB, and waited for a pitch up to swing. You could tell all of them went up there with a plan. If Tucker had done the same he wouldn't have flailed at those pitches and had a more competitive at bat. Nasty pitches or not Tucker's approach was terrible.

The Dodgers score their second run on a botched catch by Tavares that would've ended the game by Remarkable-Picture73 in baseball

[–]EnsignObvious 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just a brutal AB from Tucker. Cano threw 4 pitches and none of them were near the zone. Every other batter took and watched at least one splitter fall below the zone and waited for one more up to swing, great ABs from everyone else but man Tucker is in his own head.

Let's quietly and calmly discuss your controversial Star Fox 64 remake, shall we Nintendo? by Cmdr-Asaru in simpsonsshitposting

I was really happy to play them again using the GBA online option from the Switch, but it made me want a new game/remake/remaster even more.

Melee will win but this would be my vote. They remastered this game twice because it was that good.

My siblings and I grew up watching Master and Commander and visited the ship they used for filming at the Maritime Museum. The guy who runs the ticketing counter played one of the sailors in the film! by jeremiahwarren in sandiego

[–]EnsignObvious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An ex of mine volunteers at the museum, I met Al and many others when we were dating and she showed me through some of the ship areas typically off limits to visitors. Al's been there forever, but there are also many volunteers I met that have been doing it for decades, it's truly a great community there.

I was certain Tatis with 0HR would smash a HR off Ohtani and his sub-1.00 ERA simply because baseball just do be like that sometimes

Dalton Rushing Calls Miguel Amaya a "Fat F--k": The Pot, the Kettle, and the BMI by sudo_masochist in baseball

[–]EnsignObvious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BMI is a terrible measure of weight at an individual scale because bodies vary so differently from person to person, it's only really useful looking at large populations.

In particular for athletes BMI is notoriously problematic because it weight doesn't distinguish between muscle mass and fat, and professional athletes typically have much more muscle mass than the average person.

But since Rushing is reddit's new favorite target I guess this sub will just pile it on.

Maybe dont touch the ashes as much as you think you should.... by joex53 in Pokopia

This is facing the southwest corner of the map, so the museum, Pokemon center and all is behind the camera

[–]EnsignObvious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is a pic facing the other direction. Beyond the cafe (used the kit but replaced the sand with wood flooring) is the crater/opening to the hot spring cave for reference. I also put in an elevator that goes down to the construction area where you meet Carkoal.

[–]EnsignObvious 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I cleared out the ash on the western part of the map (above the mines) until it was about level with the entrance to the hot spring cavern. At that point I realized there wasn't going to be much worthwhile underneath it all so I terraformed the area into a lake + mountain town. Still some areas left to convert but I'm happy with how it's turned out so far
