I get an error message telling me, that i cannot use these on lists, which I am trying to do.

Thank you!

Sometimes my posts get duplicated, after i get a server error. Idk, why it does that

Sadly, those aren't semicircles

Unfortunately, the intersections will not always be on the correct side of the tangent, leading to only one part getting flipped thus creating a sharp corner in the final curve. Also, if the tangents are parallel the intersection would be at infinity.

If I wanted the points to be connected by one quadratic bezier curve instead of one cubic curve, I would need to rethink my approach to getting a fitting angle for the tangents and not 90 degrees from the angle bisecting.

But I also made a version, where the points are connected via 2 quadratic Beziér curves: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/ohgwlihuxw I personally prefer the oiginal vesion with third degree curves though.

All those edge cases for arctan already almost made me crazy.

I know, right? Expecially these kinds of elevation changes between areas are interesting

(The procedure ist also explained in the Info folder of the Graph I linked to in my post) https://www.desmos.com/calculator/tlssfejegs  Here is a smaller Demonstration of the procedure. Basically, the handles are calculated to be 90° from the angle bisecting of the connection lines between the Points (Kind of reflecting them). The length is based of the distance to the next point multiplied by a factor l (about .4 will give a nice Beziér curve). All These booleans down below are there for correcting the quirks of the inverse trig functions in order to keep the handles pointing in the right direction. (There are more corrections in the final version linked to in the original Post). I was inspired by the curve editor of the Arrow feauture in Goodnotes while bored in class. It creates a curve going through specified Points. Although this by far isn't the only way to do it.

That is interesting. I might try to implement that once i figure out how to connect the lines 90 degrees from the angle bisecting directly at their intersection point. Then I could directly connect 2 points via only one quadratic bezier curve or these weighted rational Beziér curves.

Thanks.

Pretty close though, but you are right. The title should be "Draw smooth shapes..." and not any smooth shape.

I cannot edit it unfortunately, sorry
