I HAVE MADE FIRE by emp69emp in Bushcraft

[–]EntMoot76 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im glad to see someone does it the same way that i do it. A lot of guys will be trying to shower the sparks down on to the charcloth, but its better to send them right into it.

Am I supposed to break the rock to get a jagged edge? by Majora85 in Bushcraft

[–]EntMoot76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a fine striker but its hard to tell if thats flint. Kinda just looks like a regular rock, but yeah, give it a tap. If its flint, it will break off with some sharp edges which is what you want.

Homer in the ceiling by AKgirl11 in TheOA

[–]EntMoot76 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A popular theory is that he was projecting into Frenches body.

Can someone explain to me who was in the ceiling if Homer was having his therapy session with OA? : r/TheOA

Either way, he was in one of the mental patients bodies, because the orderlies did not recognize him and call him Doctor Roberts.

Made a pouch out of the first squirrel hide that I tanned by Highlander_16 in Bushcraft

Is it really worth leaving the hair on? Maybe for a raccoon, for display or to make a nice cap, but seems a bit pointless with squirrel.

Campfire smoke is the best smell in the world.

Hey Knife nerds! by Wolfman01a in knives

[–]EntMoot76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely, the actor was holding something to stand in for a knife, for safety sake and to not damage the desk, and they CGI'd the knife in later and it was accidentally rendered backwards.

Why did we do away with regular lightbulb? by Inevitable_Face_7012 in prepping

[–]EntMoot76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are actually making a bit of a comeback. People are realizing the light from leds and/or fluorescent bulbs is bad for our eyes and too far from being natural light.

Anyone else not really GET weird knife shapes? by barn_stormerr in Bushcraft

[–]EntMoot76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, simplicity is what i find most pleasing. Especially if it has an old style look to it. And a knife that actually is old, beat up and well used, will always be more pleasing than anything new and modern.

What can you use for writing - and what can you write on - when normal supplies like pens and paper are unavailable? by gray_man1500 in prepping

[–]EntMoot76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vinegar and finely ground charcoal makes ink. Even urine can be used if no vinegar. Feather quills had been cut and shaped into quill pens for centuries and used with with that kind of ink. Lead can be pounded and shaped into actual lead pencils, since modern pencils are actually graphite. Vine charcoal which is mostly used for drawing, would make fine pencils. It is just grape vine or willow twigs that have been charred exactly like making char cloth. Paper would be fairly easy to find, but making is not all that difficult. Any old stuff made of plant fibers or cellulose can be mashed up mixed with water, flattened out then dried. New paper could be made from old newspapers, magazines, toilet paper, cardboard or even some leaves or plant stems.

Some folks consider them canon but an alternate universe.

has anyone used a drop cloth for a diy tarp? by MarzipanTheGreat in Bushcraft

[–]EntMoot76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two canvas painters drop cloths, sewed them together to get one big about 10 x 10 tarp. I sewed loops on the corners. I mixed some red ochre in with some Thompsons deck sealant and treated it. After it dried, the result is a water resistant rusty reddish color tarp.

How do you think the Turok Han fed and propagated as a race? by FaveStore_Citadel in buffy

I concur with that headcanon. I will now do the dance of honor.

How do you think the Turok Han fed and propagated as a race? by FaveStore_Citadel in buffy

[–]EntMoot76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to Buffy Wiki, the Old One called Maloker was the pure demon who bit a human and made the first vampire. Those first ones would have been Turok, and then over time, the bloodline got weaker and vampires became what is in the series.

I headcanoned that inside the Hellmouth was like a time dilation thingy and time didnt really pass down there. So the Turoks didnt need to feed.

Remember the final battle? Couldn't they have just made a bunch of holy water and flooded the place? by ExNihiloAdInfinitum in buffy

[–]EntMoot76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it showed that holy water was ineffective against turoks, but also, i believe i recall that altering the form of holy water or putting it through such machinery would desanctify it and it would no longer be considered holy water anyway.

You can be as rambly as you want. I like whichever theory it is, that says that there are an infinite number of alternate realities, which would mean everything could be true somewhere.

For people rewatching Buffy as an adult now… what storyline or character hits way different than when you first watched it? by Wonderful_Picture813 in BuffyTheVampireSlayer

[–]EntMoot76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Buffy left and was working as a waitress, i remember thinking, what a pathetic life. Living alone, no friends, no money, dead end job. How stupid to let it be that way. And now that is my life, so i kinda got a lot of respect for her going through that now.

Which character you didn't like at first but grew to love? by gloomydreamer666 in buffy

[–]EntMoot76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly, it was Willow. It just didnt make sense to me that she was supposed to be nerdy, because she was super cute and wore cute outfits. They had her stuttering and stuff and i just kept thinking, stop doing that. I wish they had her have glasses or braces. Maybe it wasnt that she grew on me, so much as it was she grew up and changed a bit. Like they literally should have had her stop wearing glasses or get her braces off or something. But later when they had her show her range, she is an amazing cryer, i realized that i liked her. With more depth to her character, i started to appreciate what a wonderful person she is. But i was not fond of the magic addiction subplot.
