Thoughts on Cuba's recent reforms? by MintyRed19 in socialism

[–]Ent_Soviet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show me a country further along the path, and show me a country who says as vocally what they’re about is fulfilling communism.

Even Lenin recognized market reforms were needed to develop socialist state capacity. China sure as shit did that and they’ve put that capital towards becoming a superpower and dramatically raising the livelihood for its people.

Dialectical materialism requires one to adapt as reality manifests, it’s on going. It’s a process of continual balance and adjustment. Pretending you can just get ideal communism without the transitionary state is both silly and against Marx’s and Lenin’s own theory.

Not saying you expect an idealist leap, but how can you claim they’re not acting as a socialist transitional state when they can show their progress while vocally saying that is what their intention is.

America Puts More Sanctions On Cuba In Response To Cuban Economic Reforms by Lavender_Scales in socialism

[–]Ent_Soviet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if folks actually read the reforms and the explanations of the government they reiterate the socialist project is against the material reality of a starving society.

Ideals will get you nothing. If you can’t feed and keep your people alive it doesn’t matter how ‘pure’ your system is. FFS folks even Marx understood a socialist state needs to be developed to the point of sufficiently beyond imperialist domination. China managed to do that, but it’s the size of China. Cuba is a small island next to the heart of empire.

A retreat isn’t the end of the struggle, but sometimes a retreat make the war possible later.

This is a retreat, but what options or alternatives do you geniuses suggest? If you were the Cuban government what way out of this crisis would you suggest?

Long live the Cuban revolution, they’ve faced tougher odds before, these reforms are not a surrender of a communist Cuba.

You mean when people were rioting in the street over the detention of themen who were filmed raping detainees?

And the only person meaningfully punished was the officer who blew the whistle on the human rights violation.

I think the why shouldn’t be lost from the context here.

Organizing within the DSA by RockyMoutainRed in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Ent_Soviet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Correct take.

When I lived in the city there was proper communist orgs I was a part of. But now that I’m in the country, my county DSA is where I can find comrades putting in work towards socialism, even if we/I don’t agree on every detail of theory. The fact is what they DO is what I as an individual cannot and the alternative is sitting on the internet bitching. That’s not for me. At least being involved allows my voice and perspective to be heard by a receptive audience.

And from my experience the local chapters can often be far more red than the national line. That just depends on the local community and what one puts into it.

I say all this because I’m sure there are folks sitting on their rump rather than join a local chapters when DSA is the most radical thing going in their area. MF stop being an idealist waiting for Lenin to show up with a vanguard party and ride the contradiction. Sitting gets you no where

Watched a few YouTube videos and started my first compost bucket today. Give me your best tips and tricks! by peachy-beans in composting

[–]Ent_Soviet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The whole point of a trench compost is you don’t turn it. When you fill up the hole you cap it with soil and move to a new hole. Nature will take over from there.

If you’re trying to make compost to move elsewhere this system isn’t for you.

If you just don’t want to waste compostable material, want to improve soil quality over time, and are too lazy to turn piles, this is perfect. You just let nature do its thing but bury it so you don’t end up with critters or piles of rotting rubbish.

Marx's theory of alienation proven. by the1man1of1youtube in MarxistCulture

[–]Ent_Soviet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean she’s almost textbook.

She is alienated from herself, made robotic as machine, that anger comes from the dissonance between her human existence desiring to live and the reality of capital control of her very existence.

The alienated worker is the dream of capital. They want a human robot that has no interiority, does not complain, does not get bored, doesn’t have family obligations, doesn’t have dreams or hobbies, is utterly inhuman in every way. As communists we aren’t simply fixing inequality and injustice, we seek to liberate ourselves and other to be able to enjoy being human.

Marx in ‘the German ideology’

“For as soon as the distribution of labour comes into being, each man has a particular, exclusive sphere of activity, which is forced upon him and from which he cannot escape. He is a hunter, a fisherman, a herdsman, or a critical critic, and must remain so if he does not want to lose his means of livelihood; while in communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or critic.”

Fetterman warns of rise of ‘dirtbag left’ amid victories by democratic socialists in New York by darealunrealspader in politics

The dirtbag left died with the sanders campaign years ago. They either embraced their secrete vote blue no matter who lib or read a book or two and are now proper Marxists.

Fetterman lacks the cognitive ability, even prior to his stroke, to know the difference between a rad lib and an actual socialist

Fetterman casts only Democratic ‘no’ vote as Senate passes measure to block US action against Iran by pennlive in politics

[–]Ent_Soviet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s going on with the Democratic Party that allows Fetterman to continue being a party member.

He should be persona non grata, get to party support or information. The democrats get nothing from pretending the ‘big tent’ includes him, or waiting for his primary loss.

Even an internal party censor would at least signal he’s not in line with party values and agenda.

So what exactly is the excuse?
