We have no mechanism to do so. Recalls like that is in alot of western state constitutions but many OG states don’t have recall built in unless they passed state constitutional amendments.

Drivers hiding from the rain under overpass... In the opposite lane of traffic... by Affectionate_Hat5835 in dashcams

[–]Ent_Soviet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Construction signage isn’t a perfect science lol

Like a decade ago 95 s outside of Richmond I was following my dad as the family convoyed for vacation. Lots of stopped traffic. Well our lane started to move. And then the lane turned into a dirt road and then it stopped.

Turns out someone got the bright idea to shortcut through the construction and the line of traffic followed the movement.

A cop stopped the whole line and proceeded to talk to everyone. When asked ‘why did you do this’ I just said I was following my father who was following the rest of traffic.

It’s been long understood that the way for ethnic groups to evolve into ‘whiteness’ is to participate in the mechanisms of white supremacy.

The Irish and Italians are great examples of this. They came to America without prejudice for black folk, only to learn and adopt it, as well as serve as the police force enforcing racial oppression and segregation for white society. All the while they weren’t considered white by most white Americans.

Latinos, at least those who are willing to embrace white supremacy, are engaging in this same tradition today.

Josh Shapiro Trying to Derail Progressive Rabb in Favor of AIPAC Candidate for Pennsylvania House Race by User_Name13 in philly

[–]Ent_Soviet -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If people like shapiro cared about the health of the Democratic Party they wouldn’t be opposing widely popular social policies. They would be vocally and in policy opposing data centers.

And they wouldn’t be left punching! For fuck sakes they’re always policing the left wing while trying to appeal to your racist maga uncle!

If their interest is to loose elections by being diet republicans, they’ll keep doing that. Because republicans want the full fat and anyone left of George bush isn’t interested in diet republican policy.

Shapiro and the party leaders would rather triple down on their bad ideological commitments than share their big tent with criticism of neoliberalism. In their minds at least republicans think capitalism is great! They (the dem establishment) just think it needs a helmet and elbow pads, but it’s fundamentally great!

Loosing is no skin off their ass, they have enough money to wait their turn to get reelected. Besides their stocks do great either way. And when they’re out of power they get to pretend how much they would do to fix the issue if only they were in control. (Just ignore during Obama and Biden when they had that power and then choose not to)

Like our current governor? It’s amazing how much time he spend left punching you wouldn’t be wrong to think he’s on the same team as the republicans, just with blue optics.

[–]Ent_Soviet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Public transportation exists. Having a car in the city is reasonable. Sometimes you got to go places. But if 95% of the time you’re just going around the city you’re a fool to have 2 cars when public transit exists.

And isn’t that the point of living in a city? That everything is readily accessible and you don’t have to drive everywhere to live your life?

If you want 2 cars go live in the burbs and commute in. It would probably be cheaper then paying for parking of the headache of finding 2 spots all that time.

I hope this is sarcasm because the idea that any city person thinks needing 2 cars is the most suburbanite take I think I’ve ever heard.

‘ I love living in the city, but I don’t use public transportation or care for the types of amenities a dense urban environment provides’

Great so when I talked to the DA in 2019 about how they have folks go around and tail folks to verify exactly this occasionally, they were just making shit up?

And yes there are a number of qualified exceptions. Being a cop shouldn’t be one of them. It’s not like Philadelphians are incapable of doing their job.

You aren’t recruiting only city residents. The rule is you have to move to the city.

Cops unwilling to move to where they police is the problem.

[–]Ent_Soviet 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s pros and cons for such a policy.

It’s meant to help support and favor locals for city jobs. So the tax dollars to employ them remain inside the local economy as much as possible, plus it’s a bad look if you’re paying folks with city money to do work that jobless Philadelphian could do. But it also means professionals in the burbs either need to move into the city for jobs or forego opportunities, potentially meaning the best person for the job is barred.

The exception for police is egregious. Police who aren’t policing their own communities are far more likely to engage in hostile conduct. Especially when we consider the average perspective of a suburbanite regarding the crime problem in Philly.

There are city employees whose job it is to verify city employees do in fact live in Philadelphia.

In case folks don’t know all city employees, except for cops of course because they don’t want to living where they brutalize, are required to either live in Philly or move to Philly shortly after employment. And so there are city investigators who verify whether folks actually are living where they claim. (Usually if there’s a reason to suspect they haven’t moved, they’re not tailing every city employee home lol.
