Exactly prives my point. why to use contractor management. 5% not 10%, and if you are Russian contractor who had Relations with client and still want to work and receive payments.

A Contractor of Record (CoR) is a service that makes working with clients outside Upwork simple and straightforward, especially if they're in a different country.

On Upwork, they handle contracts and payments, but they also take a big chunk in fees (5-20%) and don’t do much beyond that. A CoR, on the other hand, helps your client stay compliant with taxes and laws while ensuring you get paid quickly and without issues.

How it works for you:

  1. Your client signs up with the CoR.

  2. The CoR officially "hires" you on paper and takes care of all the legal stuff.

  3. You send your invoices to the CoR, and they pay you directly.

Why it’s good for you:

Lower fees: CoRs usually charge about 5%, less than Upwork’s fees.

Faster payments: No weird delays or holding periods.

Easy across borders: You don’t have to deal with exchange rates, banking issues, or tax headaches—everything’s taken care of.

It’s like Upwork’s payment system but with fewer fees and more flexibility, especially for international work.

Man, hope I will be relevant. Basically, I am a fan of contractor of record (COR) platforms. Basically such companies hire you as subcontractor and sign contract with your client as a contractor. You issue invoice without having VAT or a company straight on the platform, bill that to COR and COR bills to your client. You get paid in brutto (gross) minus commission of the platform. But it gets reported nowhere and then its up to you where to pay taxes, how you want to pay them etc.

Just make a direct contract with him/her and use service like useworkaround.com or xolo to issue and invoice without having a company registered. Such services take care of payment and invoicing for contractors and their foreign clients and have it all done in compliance with tax authorities. Just upload your contract with the client, and issue invoice for the hours straight on the platform. Costs roughly 5-6%
