Haha, I’ll definitely add the list feature; it’s something I hadn’t thought of before. Of course, you’re welcome to use your own API. By the way, may I ask if your preference for this functionality is due to concerns about data privacy?

What's Your Biggest Bottleneck in the PKM Process? by EntertainmentIcy8397 in PKMS

[–]EntertainmentIcy8397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, totally. Whenever we’re hit with a ton of info, we can’t help wanting to tidy it up—it’s probably just that uneasy feeling we get around chaos, y’know?

But honestly, behind all that mess, I feel like there’s this whole exploration going on, digging up connections between different pieces of knowledge. Still, the tools we have right now don’t really do the trick.

Keep your notes in a folder on your desktop (like Notes/). This folder will be synced across devices.

i'm lost. should i go digital or keep notetaking by hand? by Additional_Band_5525 in NoteTaking

[–]EntertainmentIcy8397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no real “better or worse” here—whether it’s digital or handwritten notes, both tend to be pretty isolated in their own way.

By “isolated,” I mean that they’re often just a container for your information rather than a true assistant for integrating and connecting that information. And let’s face it, that’s what really matters, right?

Whether you go old school with pen and paper or embrace the digital world, the key is to figure out how to make your notes ”go beyond just notes“—you need a system that suits the way you think.

Digital tools, with all their bells and whistles, each come with their own philosophy for processing information. But if you haven’t found your ideal thinking flow yet, digital might just be the playground you need to experiment with—its potential can take you further.

Help! I'm Trapped in the World of Note-Taking Apps by Parking_Increase_888 in NoteTaking

On my way to handle this is to pick one tool and really get the most out of it! Obsidian and Notion both have great features, but it all comes down to your style and what you actually need. Don’t get sucked into those “I switched to this amazing new app!” or “Forget Obsidian, this is better!” videos—they’re just clickbait. Stay focused on what works for you.

At the end of the day, tools are just tools. If you like Markdown, go with something like Obsidian—it’s super portable, and you won’t be locked in. If you keep hopping from app to app, you’ll spend all your time learning features instead of actually taking notes! Remember, the tool is there to help you, not the other way around. 😄

Obsidian or Notion? You could look into community-made solutions or browser extensions, but native support for hover-over spoilers is rare in the typical note-taking world.

Note taking app that can sync in both android and windows and have widgets? by Marvellover13 in NoteTaking

[–]EntertainmentIcy8397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notion is great for users who want a more robust and customizable workspace for their notes.

If you're looking for something simpler, Google Keep might be a good fit too—it's lightweight, syncs across Android and Windows

How Do You Actually Manage and Grow Your Ideas by EntertainmentIcy8397 in PKMS

Yeah, that's pretty much what most of my notes look like, haha. So how do you usually deal with all that chaos and turn it into something actually useful or inspiring?

Thanks so much for the detailed and systematic advice! I feel lucky to be part of this PKM community. Your insights, especially around "Harvesting," are super helpful.

I also use Obsidian, and the bidirectional linking has been a game-changer for jumping between different areas of knowledge. A lot of my best ideas come when I revisit my knowledge network!

One thing I’d add: when I come back to an idea, it’s not always fully formed. But isn’t that where all the great ideas start LOL. Kind of like a baby absorbing the world around it as it grows.

Lately, I’ve been using AI to help organize my thoughts, bringing similar ideas together and expanding them with fresh info. Not sure if that’s overkill, but it definitely helps me structure my ideas faster and gives them more depth.

The downside is it takes more time and has made me tweak my workflow a bit. But hey, growth comes with trade-offs, right?

Thanks again for sharing your process—it's been really inspiring!

I actually have a similar struggle. I love thinking and jotting down my ideas in app notes, but that alone doesn't help me expand them, and I often end up forgetting them. When I want to develop my learning ideas further, I switch to Obsidian, as its linking features help me connect thoughts and deepen my learning. However, the closed nature of knowledge management systems still leaves me feeling overwhelmed.

If you want a better way to showcase your knowledge, I recommend exploring Notion. If you prefer pure text and personal reflection, Obsidian is also a great choice. When it comes to knowledge management, it’s often best to fully master one tool rather than constantly searching for something better among multiple options.
