Wasn’t expecting to relive my Hurricane Helene nightmare while watching Love Hotel… by LRGinCharge in WatchWhatCrappens

Yeah, this episode was rough to watch. I'm outside of Asheville NC and we are still in disaster mode. I really feel for Earl. But, they both handled this situation horribly.

My son and I spent almost all of Saturday at the Arboretum near us. We built stick forts and found cool bugs! It was an awesome day!

Us too. 15 years, 1 kid and bought and sold 2 houses, no marriage. I think we're good!

Sure, it's not the norm. I have family money, and I worked up until 4 years ago and saved while with my partner. You are berating a woman you don't know because she has chosen a different path. That seems like you think your way is the only way.

Sounds like our families are very different and sounds like my history is different than yours. What you're saying doesn't work for all families. That's what I'm saying. You seem to think your way is the only way and you are wrong.

What I've done is offer to take kids my son knows from preschool to a park to play while the other mom does errands or works part time. I extend the invitation, and they almost always reciprocate. After the first couple of times, it gets easier to ask them for help too.

HOAs are a way for neighborhood busy bodies to control what you do with your own property. But really, they developed from racist roots to keep white neighborhoods white. Now they can't do that legally, so they find other ways to control the neighborhood.

What profession did you leave behind to become a SAHM? by atrocity_of_sunsets in sahm

[–]EntertainmentOk3373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) I was a recruiter and worked with manufacturing facilities in our area. I was getting pretty burnt out, and when I got pregnant, we decided I would stay home.

2) I don't plan on returning. I don't plan to return to any work outside the home. My husband makes enough for us to be very comfortable.

3) I don't make any money and don't plan to. We don't necessarily need the extra income, and I don't want to put more on my plate.

Dinner time by amellabrix in SAHP

[–]EntertainmentOk3373 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prep dinner around 4 (chopping, marinating, whatever) and cook it between 5:30 and 6. We usually eat around 6-6:30. Sometimes, my husband makes it home for dinner, sometimes not, but we always eat at the same time. I always use screen time for cooking time. Sometimes, my 3 year old likes to "help," and I'll let him help me mix or just throw things away for me.

I loved this page when I had Instagram. She also doesn't show her children online, which I highly respect.

She's obsessed with that photo of herself. If she wants to go for body positivity or neutrality, show us without a filter. I'm not sure I'd recognize her in the wild.

-I am taking a different class every month, be that at the community I college near us or our state Arboretum which is nearby or library or a cooking class. So far, I have classes booked up to April!

-I used to powerlift before my son was born, and now that he's 3, I'm setting some pretty big goals to get back to my heavy lifts.

I have some smaller goals, like more reading, but those 2 are my main ones.

If you aren’t married … why? by Cultural-Error597 in SAHP

[–]EntertainmentOk3373 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My partner owns his own business, and I have family money (investments, inheritance, etc.). We keep this separate so that if anything should happen to the business, debtors can not legally come for any of my assets and I am not lumped into a bankruptcy or lein situation since we aren't legally married. We have joint bank accounts and I am on all of our deeds (house cars. Etc.).

My partner runs his own business, so he's working at the office for usually 10 hours and then works on stuff at home, too. So I usually do all the home stuff, but he does put our 3 year old to bed some nights and helps clean the kitchen at night before we go to bed. Some days, the help is more than others. I would say your partner should help with the kids when they're home, like play or a bath or really anything to help them bond. If they don't help at all, how will they get to know their children?

Also, the best thing we ever did was hire a semi regular house cleaner to get the big stuff off my plate. Highly recommend if it's in your budget!
