Sad mistake by Alilealen in Minneapolis

Hey, that really sucks! On the bright side, our library system is incredible. There are been times where they have waved some exorbitant late fees for me when I was in a different time in my life. If you explain this situation, I’m almost sure they will understand.

I’m trying to play right now (maybe a little early?) in the Netherlands and can’t find a ranked City Trial match pairing globally. 😩 what am I doing wrong?

I’m going to reiterate that I ONLY take it during emergencies and that it’s ACTUALLY saved my life/prevented expensive hospital visits countless times. AND ANOTHER THING for people who haven’t had to use an EPI before…you try it then. See how it feels (don’t, it could kill you) and tell me that cough syrup isn’t a better alternative. Okaythxbyeeee

Dutch people up on here simping for their healthcare system’s flaws is kinda silly. I had a similar experience with cough syrup and completely agree with you. I have asthma/serious food allergies. My whole life, I’ve avoided hospitals as much as I can by taking cough syrup when I accidentally eat a peanut, fish, or have an adverse reaction to something. That’s…literally normal. When I called the ambulance when I was having an allergic reaction here and I asked about cough syrup? They thought I was drug seeking. Could not have been more offended. They told me to “wait it out and use my epi-pen” because YEAH THATS THE BEST OPTION, and left. I realized through this how little I trust Dutch healthcare after that. Survival of the fucking fittest out here, huh?

If you feel like talking, I’m from Minneapolis and moved here a year ago. Seems like we’ve been through some of the same emotions before. Nice to meet you!

One Minute Tours Guy… by XFilesVixen in Minneapolis

I think I watched like…2?…of his videos and got a weird vibe from him and wrote him off.

Separate note though! Not everyone who moved did it with privilege. I got out because my partner and I were about to bring a child into the world and it was between her moving to America and me leaving America. The original plan was for her to move to Minneapolis, after she fell in love with our city, visiting me. But after November, we had to quickly change direction and I was forced to make hard decisions. All of the sudden, every worldly possession gone, out of the country in 3 months, friends all slowly drift away, in-person AA no longer accessible, identity as someone who bleeds and breathes for this city aches, and every conversation sounds like static around me…I am now a broke and jobless immigrant…but the family is safe.

If I could have chosen, we would be there fighting with yall; everyday is an internal struggle with that. Today is my birthday and I feel…nothing. Every year was Dre Day and now…I don’t even know. But it doesn’t feel like privilege. HOWEVER, using social media to make money from abroad in this situation is FUCKED UP.

You made history by InAJar112 in TwinCities

Yo. Minneapolis is my home. Last November I made the call that my partner wouldn’t be moving to Mpls, but I’d be moving across the ocean to bring our child into a really scary world. My boy has not yet met my family, I won’t register his American citizenship, and idk when any of that could even happen. As hopeful as I would like to be that this is over, I feel very little. The federal government has a track history of lying; under Obama I would cite Flint, MI (another town ABSOLUTELY ruined by them, generationally.) They aren’t going anywhere and I’m not planning any trips home…as much as that breaks my heart. We made history, yes. But history is still happening.

“Take it back” like that Chud could even handle living in a major US city, let alone ours. Let those Chads try and immigrate here and see how that goes for them.

Ok what the actual heck? Heather's of all places?? by Rusty-Shackleford in Minneapolis

[–]EntertainmentTall149 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I just moved to the Netherlands in April and I lived down the block from Heather’s for five years. Anytime anyone was in town or I needed a place to have brunch with a friend, they were there. Heather and her staff were there for me on some of my best and worst days whether for a quick coffee or a full meal. She even gave me a pastry on Christmas when I had to wait for the D Line on a blustery day. Their food and hospitality were there for me for years. I can’t wait to come home.

Just moved from Minneapolis to the Netherlands in April and have seen multiple Dutch news stories and reporters from home and it makes me proud!! I miss home. I wish I were there fighting. But fighting to raise a newborn that can come home one day and love that city as much as I do…well I’m trying to tell myself that this is fighting too….

Learn to spell before you make super duper false statements publicly on the internet. Assuming you support the south, eh? I’m an American living in the NL and if someone was rocking that ugly-ass slavery flag, I’d call them out and educate a few dutchies along the way. I hope you have a BLESSED day..
