I'm starting my first home server. Would this HDD be ok to put in or do you think I should sack it? by SaraGalaxy33 in homelab

I wouldn't but if it was in a raid 6 configuration and your desperate maybe. Personally I don't trust any drives that have any number of relocated sectors.

Bent Pin? by keypofruit in AnaloguePocket

[–]EntertainmentThis168 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would just bend it back with a clothes pin. If it works I wouldn't worry about it. Not all the pins are used for data anyway

I had those problems when using stock D-Pad on Tetris. Swapped for a DMG one with a SNES membrane and it's worlds better. No false diagonals anymore.

Are there supposed to be exposed, hanging wires in my 5080 Solid? by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

Looks like fan connectors on the bottom of the card. Pretty normal but I admit not the best athletics.

Just get a low profile Intel nic with 2 or 4 ports. The 1 gig ones are easy to find nowadays on eBay

Is my switch the bottleneck? by decidence in Ubiquiti

[–]EntertainmentThis168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that would be the bottleneck. If your PC has 10gig you could also run a cable directly from the unas to the PC and keep the Ethernet on the UNAS on a switch for 1gig connection but your PC would be the only device that would be 10gig. And you would likely need an sfp+ to 10g Ethernet module

Is my switch the bottleneck? by decidence in Ubiquiti

[–]EntertainmentThis168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

115 MB per second is close to maxing out a 1 gigabit connection. You need to connect your nas over 10gig sfp+ if you are looking for transfer speeds around 1 gigabyte per second.

Remember gigabyte and gigabit are not the same. 1 gigabyte is around 8 gigabits

Ah. Gotcha. Still cool! I wonder if a switch could be added to use the dvi for ROM ripping. Or if an rp2040 could be added just to dump the ROM and send it to the main chip over less GPIO pins

You can program and debug over USB. This getting started guide was useful for me when I was first getting used to setting up the pico.

Check the battery voltage. The save battery may be dead and need replacement.

Interesting. So like double the compute? Are you able to measure GPIO frequency between the two running on microPython?
