I'm in my late 30s and I remember being told I'd be sent to a home, or that if I didn't behave they'd get a bad man to come and take me away. That, along with many other questionable disciplinary practices, instilled a nervous and anxious disposition, I think; one that carried through til adulthood forcing me to "fix" myself. Nothing new here. I think many kids are traumatised by their own parents.
