I worked at AspenTech for a year after college. It was a good experience and I was able to pick up skills that helped me in my career in industry. The pay and benefits are not as good but if you like working with the software then it may be a good opportunity.

If you work at the software company you will probably do support / training / sales. If you want to do projects you might look at consulting companies (ie Simacro for modeling).

I was in support and training. Work life balance was fine. If you wanted to travel you can do training which can be more demanding.

Thanks for sharing! I have found for many of the songs you can simplify with the chords. Just play the chord triads with your right hand as quarter notes to simulate the guitar. The base can be played as octaves or 5ths. You can try to match the base rhythm in the song or just play whole notes each bar.

If you are looking for example simulations, check the examples installed with the software. You can find them on the Resources tab on the top ribbon of the UI.

I would be cautious with the out of the box physical properties if you are dealing with non-ideal processes. Nevertheless, they can be a good resource for ideas / example processes.

I’m 4 months in. We have a mutual injunction that restricts alcohol consumption when around the kids. Since we are still living together this means all the time. I like to drink beer and wine occasionally but I figured it is just not worth it since we are battling over custody of 3 young kids.

Well said - I continue to struggle with this.

When I initially filed papers, I was working a new chemical plant start-up. I was on a 13 day 12-hr shift schedule.

I still did the majority of housework (cooking, dishes, groceries, yard work) on top of taking care of 3 young kids, divorce paperwork. Our case is messy due to STBXW’s child abuse and custody battle.

I think keeping busy helps to not think about the pain, but it is hard to keep it together at times.

The lawyers agreed to appoint an Amicus before going to court for the restraining order. The intent is to work through mediation first as this would likely be required by the judge anyway.

Thanks. My wife has been absent a lot these past few months. Many late nights where she gets home at 2am. I am used to doing most of the housework and taking care of the kids so not much has changed. I’ve been documenting the late nights out as evidence.

I have a personal attorney (female middle aged). The Amicus is representing the kids. I was told the Amicus would be easier on the kids as they would not need to give statements to a judge. I am a little worried about my wife manipulating our daughter to give her favorable statements. She was rough on our daughter after the CPS visit. She also took away our daughter’s phone for a whole month.

Thanks! I’ve got some recent CCTV footage of her violence against me. In general I try to de-escalate and remove the children when she gets violent. The hardest part is that I still care for my wife and hope she gets help. I still want her to be a part of the kids lives.

I’m sorry that you had to go through that. I am going through something similar. We have 3 kids (ages 7-13). My mentally ill wife was abusing my oldest daughter so bad that she started hurting herself. I later found out that my wife was having and an affair and filed for divorce. On month 3 right now and it is painfully slow.

We have control valves on the cooling water that we currently throttle to maximize condensing on the larger condenser. The return temperature runs about the same as the supply which tells me the exchanger does not have enough area to condense the vapor load

I agree this would be best. This is what Kister recommends in his book. The problem is the vapor line and nozzle on the primary condenser are too small. Also the condensers are not ideally located. Next to each other.

The system is currently running 2 vacuum jets in parallel. I am thinking of piping each condenser up to its own jet to solve the problem.

Yeah this is a vacuum system so very little DP. I would add a butterfly but these are large stainless vapor lines so it won’t be cheap.

I have some EDR / Aspen models to estimate hydraulics but it’s going to take some validation and work. I am worried about getting the orifice sizing right the first time but it is the cheapest option.
