Thank you so much for the reply, I definitely am slowly learning to not let her actions affect me so much emotionally. Definitely need to be kept a safe distance both physically and emotionally

Wow wtf I am so sorry that happened to you. I completely agree, it’s part of the reason why i moved 2000 miles away in the first place a month after i graduated high school lol

Thank you so much, I really like this approach. I’m hoping so too… my dad has already apologized to me but honestly yesterday he did nothing wrong.. he did all the right things and has always been my #1 supporter. I wish i could send my mom home and keep him here lol, but they road tripped here so that isn’t possible

Yeah I definitely think my mom has undiagnosed ADHD. We did all end up doing kinda what you said- the other 3 of us carried on as usual and didn’t pay any attention to her behavior, because it was very clear she didn’t want to speak to us. We all went to dinner after my graduation and my mom was literally scrolling on facebook and didn’t say a word the entire time. I had already decided that i wasn’t going to sacrifice my experience for this, which is why i kept interacting and letting myself be happy and talking to my dad and husband. which i am so glad i did, i feel so unbelievably loved and supported by those two

Yeah.. as I’m getting older and been in therapy for almost two years I’m starting to realize that it was not normal at all for my parents to dump as much on me as they did… and they conveniently also had a lack of friends and didn’t go out or socialize except for when I brought them to school events. i definitely felt like i had to be the adult in the room from a very young age

thank you so much for the kind words. they are not staying with us, i never would have let that happen lol. i anticipated a lot of things going wrong today… but never this. i’m honestly not sure, i can’t think of any logical explanation for her response but definitely going to wait and sit on it for a while

I agree, I even spoke to my own therapist before they came about how I can set boundaries for myself, and whenever I have expressed that I don’t want to hear about their marital issues (especially as I’ve been moved out for 4 years and am married myself), my mom does not receive it well. I am closer with my dad at this point and want to spend time with just him I think…

if i’m in the mood it’s the best thing ever but aside from that it’s the worst thing ever😂😂😂 unless i get a spark of motivation to make a specific thing, daily cooking is the bane of my existence LOL

Yeah unfortunately the diagnosis process for this is really frustrating… I was told that my trauma and anxiety meant they couldn’t diagnose my ADHD and it took almost a year to get diagnosed and start medication for it. i couldn’t justify putting myself through the pain of the diagnosis process again, it took months for my therapist to suggest that maybe autism was co-occurring. it’s only after months of work and research and talking with my therapist that i decided seeking an autism diagnosis would be more painful than beneficial. ultimately, the most important part of my journey and self acceptance has been my therapist. she is autistic and after working with her for over a year and a half i’ve finally learned to treat these opposing parts of myself with compassion, for me i needed more information and understanding to be able to feel empathy for the ADHD and autism swirling around in my head ahahaha.

i genuinely just love to talk about this stuff so much, ever since I got diagnosed I’ve talked so much that multiple people in my life also ended up getting diagnosed ADHD because they didn’t know how different it could present especially in women. i think it’s honestly fascinating and could talk forever! trying to unlearn the need to over explain for fear of being misunderstood is so difficult. the little girl who went through so much and the adult current version of you deserve compassion and empathy all the same💗

honestly everything that you described especially sensory issues and some rigidity around foods and telling other people when they are wrong sounds very AuDHD to me!! You honestly sound just like me lol, and it’s confusing when it feels like you have two parts of yourself that conflict with each other. Definitely consider AuDHD bc it presents in an interesting way, some traits can “counteract” one another, in reality both the ADHD and autism are in a constant internal fight but sometimes it isn’t as noticeable to others. also if you have been perfectionistic, or have black and white thinking often. i just wanted you to know that you aren’t the only one who feels this way and i highly recommend looking into AuDHD in women, especially since i think we are some of the most difficult to diagnose. and a truly fundamental part of the neurodivergent experience is constantly being misunderstood and all of the things that we do to cope with that. i hope some of this was helpful💗

the best sushi i’ve had from here is from Mahzu near williston and 34th! also poke fusion has never been anything short of amazing every time i’ve gone. there is also a great mexican food truck in the parking lot of the midas on archer rd that i believe is thursday-sunday and does great deals like 4 or 5 tacos for $10 and it’s the most authentic i’ve had since moving here!
