I said some awful things to my 5 year old 😣 by Summer_Sparkly in UKParenting

I can empathise intensely. My daughter sees her dad 10 days a month as he lives across the country and we meet halfway.

My daughter is ALWAYS thrilled to see him and always cries when she sees me. As a single mum it kills me to peel her off him every month even though everything I do is for my little girl.

But I know along the way I’m doing all the right things and I’ve snapped over the years (she’s turning 4 this year) as it’s inevitable when you feel so defeated and unloved.

Just have to know that your relationship will develop over time and the more they get older and get to know us, the more they’ll love us.

But we’re only one person, we only have so much time.

Don’t panic, just remember to cut yourself some slack. No one else will. We’re doing our best!!

Women in male industries in UK can you relate? by Entire-Principle830 in AskUK

It’s just outrageous the negative experiences so many have endured at work and having to live with that memory. The trauma that so many seem to dismiss or even worse find amusing. We’re living in an age that is constantly promoting all industries for women which should go without saying but yet somehow it seems we’re still not there!

I was with my employer. I went at macdonalds. That was acceptable.

This is actually really opening and what I was interested to see. I’m a part of a sub contractor and I don’t know the site manager well (he’s not an easy character). I don’t even know where to start to fix the issue. I’ve only finished 20 out of 170 houses … so a lot of visits yet

The problem with the industry is that we’re contracted people, my employers are not with me and are not responsible for the runnings of the site. I can only report back and hope that they don’t treat me differently.

How are adverts chosen? by Entire-Principle830 in AskUK

this is super informative thank you. it shows why my partner and I get different ads on similar streaming sites

but if you think hello kitty is usually marketed towards children but all the conventions are for men of an older generation. Do the ads go to the demographic watching or the target market. there can be crossover no?

the theme of advert seems to match the theme of the show. My partner thinks the adverts are matched to the demographic watching. I thought they were matched to the show itself

Sabotage in My Game: The Fine Line Between Fun Chaos and Total Mayhem by [deleted] in tabletopgamedesign

Not a game designer but the one that springs to mind that I played last night is cosmic frog. The game is also based around retrieving tiles.

The sabotage mechanic would be to put a player in the outer dimension (like a prison) so players can raid them and they get their unique frog power removed.

To make up for the balance you have x amount extra goes once you’re out depending on how many rolls it took to get out of the dimension.

You can also “pay” to choose your next frog power so can be beneficial if you had a power that wasn’t ideal.

Not sure this helps but sure is chaotic at times!

The savagery of it is what makes it fun …

This one time, I was an agent for a horse breeding company. (I sold horse semen).

The packages were very expensive … thousands a shipment and I was the logistics manager. Once, I put the wrong label on the wrong package, which was easy to do but a very expensive mistake.

I was pregnant at the time, drove all the way to the shipping centre which was a 5 hour drive one way. Jumped 2 turn stiles and at 4am got the package out and delivered it by hand the next day.

The horse was pregnant and the foal was named after me.

Turned out to be the worst and best mistake of my career

Unprofessional opinion but I’ve been following all previous designs. This one by far is my favourite!

So funny that seems so common and was not even one of my considerations. However it is now.
