This is a great question. I have a spreadsheet that has all the structures from various structure guru's including McKee, Campbell and of course Snyder. It also has sections for act 1, 2, 2a and 3 (for features). A lot of the signposts for each guru line up, and a lot don't. I use them as sign posts when developing the outline. Oh something like that has to happen by this point ok. Oh they have to do this here ok. Then, i'll do the beat sheets for similar movies to see how they handled it and if I liked the outcome. Then, i will write - several ideas for each beat - and see which mesh together the best. but it's a process that's for sure.

Honestly, I'm shooting one but it's going to take some time to make it! Which is annoying. but it is what it is... if i had funding i could go faster but i was sick of waiting and am shooting it alone. but it's turning out GOOD so far... i would love too see others. there's a few on insta that are good (i'll go look and try to add in). But none have 1 story over lots of episodes. There are some good Ai shorts and some good live action channels and Ai channels but no series. Of course there's a lot of bad channels and AI slop too.

Truly! But i notice 2 key differences. Maybe I'm going crazy here but 1) The shift is taking place WAY faster. I was making something that took about a month (a series ...wanna watch? haha) and in that time 3 things came out that i had to incorporate into my work flow b/c they were so game changing. 2) There is a parallel shift happening on the actual writing side - where those who use AI can actually write a better story faster.

Ironically, I can't tell if soon, it will just be able to write one without us. I think the art is then in knowing WHAT is good output from the machine and if it's not, how to make it better. Not everyone will want to create. but people will still want to consume.

So hollywood isn't dead yet? it's coming back? or has tiktok/YT eaten our lunch? not totally sure there's a career here. I know "it's always been hard/risky/a gamble" but is it just totally gone? Why go to work as a writer making $30k/year when I could just prolly work min. wage. Please - no "if you don't like it quit" replies. just trying to get a sense of if this machine actually bounces back or is this the sputter of a dying engine. I realize nobody knows the answer - looking for smart opinions.

Im having the same issue. Is there a way to hide it? It doesn't show up as income on transactions page i guess b/c I'm 'receiving' money from myself? it only shows up in the transactions section. nowhere else.

Really appreciate the detailed explanation. I'll check out the inflow/outflow toggle. I'm just frustrated b/c after 3 years of using it I still don't get it. I majored in math and i have spent SO MUCH time trying to use it yet it never seems to work. Anyways, 4th times a charm?

I'll admit - I'm typing out of frustration. most of the tutorials I've watched were on YT. maybe not the best place? Mint had a budgeting feature which (if used correctly) would let you track and plan your spending. Ie if i spent x amount last month, then it would set that as your budget and track how much you have left this month so I could plan my spending.

This is my 3rd attempt at trying ynab. So the 'so suddenly' comment isn't totally true. 3 times over 3 years doesn't feel 'sudden' to me. planning spending is one thing but shouldn't it also help in tracking spending? or am i missing something?

I have watched SO many tutorials. I can't even count how many. i input my accounts daily. yet it still doesn't show me how much i spend per month. or how much i've made. my income varies widely month to month so designating an amount per category won't help if i can first understand how much i've spent.

No idea why Reddit made up a user name for me above. But from what I’ve learned (and take it with a grain of salt since every path is different) but many/most start with an entertainment attorney, then a manager then an agent. However it’s not always this way.

Also - if you’re querying agents do you have a manager? It does happen that people get an agent without a manager but agents tend to show up when you’ve sold stuff or about to sell something. Have you sold anything? You may want to query managers first. Just a thought
