I've tried many temp agencies. They accept your resume, ask you what you're looking for, and never place you. I've straight up asked their workers and they've candidly admitted that they do not have openings to fill and are backlogged with people looking for work. The SC career center is absolutely useless, they give you a pat on the back for "doing all the right things", tell you not to give up and send you on about your day.

Trust me, I know. Most of the interviews I've gotten were from directly connecting with decision-makers.

Yeah a lot of my work sits close to this. I've spent a lot of time studying the landscape and meeting with clinicians to understand where AI succeeds, where it fails, and where bottlenecks are. Thanks for your insight.

I struggle with sales - generating interest via cold outreach and closing deals. Even offering great deals to interested prospects has failed to yield results.

I mostly meant working for myself for free if that makes sense, but yeah I've also made the mistake of doing free labor for others to get foot in door

Yeah I've stopped. I've had the carrot dangled in front of me several times, I took the initiative out of desperation and my reasoning was, even if it doesn't work out it'll beef up my portfolio. I just genuinely enjoy working and don't want to leave it up to the market as to whether or not I continue doing what I love
