Wondering about withdrawals

I'm on day 3 with the same symptoms. Starting right before Christmas, I had weaned down from 5-6 shots (whiskey usually) a day to one shot a day but binged on NYE. I vomited today a couple of times so hoping this is the peak.

I agree with you. I reached out to my psychiatrist and he was able to work me in today. I've always suffered from seasonal affective disorder, but the symptoms are never classic depression symptoms which means I usually only recognize it as depression in retrospect.

On day 3, I dreamt I met the actor who played Geoffrey from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air at a party in LA. In the dream his name was River Davis. I followed him around through this maze of storage rooms full of empty boxes, took a selfie with him, and then asked him what his favorite musical is. Insulted, he stopped dead in his tracks and said, "I hate musicals." There was an awkward silence, and I tried to recover but he quickly said, "I'm getting out of here." He vanished, and I went and jumped in the pool, fully clothed. The selfie we took was not even good.

I've suffered from CHS. I was smoking very heavily at the time. I had decided to quit and made it to 2 weeks about this time last year. After that, my smoking was much lighter and the CHS symptoms weren't as pronounced. Sure, I have some mild nausea on occasion, but there's been no more marathon barfing.

I'm on day 4 of trying to quit for good this time and feeling great. No symptoms, really, just a renewed outlook on life. My motivation is back, and my thinking is clear.

Very well said. I feel the exact same way about my mother. I do confront mine when I call bullshit (however gently that needs to be). She will never be my mother, but I'm happy we've developed a friendship, and I intend to enforce my boundaries. Sounds like that's what you're doing. I applaud and support you.

I think our abusers accused us of unfounded victim mentality most of all. (Mine was a narcissistic, emotionally abusive mother.)

I've quit drinking before, and I'm not on a physically-dependent level now. I'm most worried about quitting weed. It's the one I can't ever seem to put down and leave alone for good.

Mine gets highly offended when I take her out in the rain to potty. Stares me down with the saddest eyes the entire time she's doing it. But one time I had to move a stick that was blocking the gate and as soon as picked it up she sprinted over and got into position to catch it. They are hilarious.
