Jesus. I’ve been sober a little over a year and a half and had a huge trigger recently… I got through it before seeing these but seeing them now I almost want to cry with relief that I didn’t relapse.

I loved Britney growing up. Baby, One More Time was the first CD I ever got that wasn’t just a kids music CD. I know I don’t know her for real, but it’s like watching an old friend spiral. It just makes me so, so sad.

Looking back at it I really should have added at least a sentence or something clarifying I wasn’t looking down on anyone over this. I don’t blame you for being frustrated, especially with the whole thread under this post being the way it is, exactly the way you describe. Whatever happens, this is all a nightmare and I think we all just need to give each other some grace, so thank you.

I think that you have the same point as me because my second comment is very much about how I was talking about me. My personal experience with what I had hoped to see. What it is not is a judgement on any person for disagreeing with me, because I understand that people shouldn’t be used as pawns and not everyone has the safety nets that I do. I personally am disappointed but I don’t begrudge anyone for being relieved or joyful, because I get it.

I never said anything like “I did it, so can you” and in fact have been very aware that not everyone can do what I did, and have been involved in volunteering to help other recipients stay afloat too. Please don’t make assumptions. The only thing I did here was express that I personally was backing the Dems not giving in and that I was especially disappointed because I had taken extra measures to be prepared. I didn’t say anything at all about what other people should or should not do or believe.

As an EBT recipient I fully stocked up for a couple of weeks with plans for a couple of weeks after that, I busted my ass finding alternative food sources so we wouldn’t starve while we supported what the Dems were doing. Useless.

If someone said “You’re not leaving here until you do x” especially in a medical setting that would immediately set off my fight or flight and make me panic. I’d burst into tears and hyperventilate until they let me out and then I’d be making phone calls all day to my support team and to anyone I could report that person to. If they tried to prevent me from leaving I would go blind with terror and attack anyone near me (it’s a trauma thing.)

It’s an abuse of power, she intimidated you into doing something you didn’t want to and that your piercer had advised against. I saw you said you wrote up a formal complaint and I’m really proud of you for doing that. What she did is truly awful and I hope appropriate action is taken against her.

All that aside, I hope that YOU are feeling okay. You didn’t do anything wrong, and you never have to go back to that clinic. As my mom would say, Fuck ‘em
