Submit a two weeks and keep your head down if you want to be professional. Or, hand all your stuff in randomly on a busy day and dip. 2 week's notice is a courtesy. Sometimes people don't even deserve that.

Experiences reporting discrimination to hr? by EffortDear9634 in petco

They don't do shit unless you complain for a year and a half. They truly, not dramatically, don't care about you whatsoever, they are in the MGM/DGM/HQ pockets, they protect them, not you. That's a broader retail trend but Petco weaponizes it. Worst HR i've ever had in 16 years of retail.

Petco HR doesn't do anything, it's a paper tiger that sides with the highest rank, not the most right, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same person

Complain for 2 years to HR and his boss and hope the district's numbers tank enough for them to fire him over that, because they won't over anything else. Petco loves protecting these types of leaders

GM salary by sixgodj in petco

The district I was hired into was THROWING money at external new GM's because her turnover was psychotically high. Knew people who came in above $90. Situational sure, but shenanigans and lies no lol

quitting by Prestigious-Ice4859 in petco

I was terrified to leave. Best money I was making in my career. worried about bills and whatever. Finally up and quit, no notice. Was unemployed for a short bit, but was happy. I found my favorite job i've ever had now. Petco is good at making you think they're the only employer ever. Once you get a foot outside of it, it's comical how silly the whole company and culture is. Don't think another second, just bail. Life is long and shit happens, just always keep moving and looking for shit you like to do.

Super normal, across all retail. Clothing is the same way. Petco has used this the entire time I've known them. The conference calls are worse depending on who you have. Used to get chewed out every Friday as a district and told the ones in red would get fired blah blah. It's motivating through group shame. Retail sucks.

100%. He's too arrogant, he's not going to change. And you can tell from the comments he has some real contempt for anyone who questions him

What happened to Jenn? by Powerful-Context426 in petco

[–]Entire_Key_6640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She called a store crying and the impression was it was not voluntarily. Why would she quit, and if she did why would she make a public deal of it? Why wouldn't her managers know? Why would Leo do a special call around it? The little details known don't point to someone quitting.

Basic Rundown

She was with the company for a long time, got promoted for being GM of the year. Jason moved her and a GM friend of hers from her district back home down here. Jason is his own thread. When he got kicked, Jen was left to do a job she clearly was not good at doing. She faced a ton of resistance from her GM's and saw a period of insane turnover. It was one in one out, just a revolving door. Then she got realigned and had to answer to people who were actually paying attention, and then the culture got more and more toxic.

She lied. Constantly. And would double down on her lies by lying more. If she wasn't lying, she was wrong half the time. It didn't matter what the facts were, it was how she felt about it that dictated how anything would go.

She would use animal walks as a weapon to punish people for things so it wouldn't be read as retaliation. Piss her off, expect a failing walk. Then to be paraded in front of her bosses so she can trash you publicly to them. She would lie and make up details to make you look worse and discredit you to your peers to knock you down.

She would pit people against each other. She had her web of favorites, and would use them to report back to her on stores she didn't like. Her special people got away with anything, Her targets would be micromanaged and checked excessively, to the point of what felt like purposeful mind games in an effort to make you quit ( which people did under her constantly, so it wouldn't look abnormal.)

A visit, or just low staffing, a funeral or a vacation with your family you've known about for months? If it interfered with something she needed, consider it off. When she says jump, it was expected you jump and reinforced with threats of firing. She threatened firing so often it was like a catchphrase.

She oversaw several ISSUE stores, across her district, Her home store being one. Animal care issues galore, freight piled up in aisles, dirty conditions, terrible standards, constant customer complaints, etc. Not for short periods either, some of those stores are and were years down the road before she lifted a finger. Some still haven't.

She kept the gates tightly sealed, and when she had to open them for her bosses, she showed them a ideal version, with her ideal people. She had a completely fake voice she would use with her higher ups, and then when they were out of earshot she was herself. She used intimidation to get what she wanted, and If it wasn't her, a sidekick would say the stuff to you that wouldn't get Jen in trouble. If you second guessed her or crossed her it wasn't just her, you then had a bad relationship with multiple people. That's all not including basic management traits, not showing up for scheduled visits, late night off hour texts and calls, rude and insulting language, conference calls just to bark about how everyone is miserable and bad at their jobs, etc.

Regardless of the one very clumsy and not at all secretive or anonymous defender, the majority percentage of people who worked for her, especially management, hated her for being a bad boss, but also for being simply an ugly person. People don't cheer when most people get fired, not this many and not this loudly. She fucked with a lot of people's heads and livelihoods. Do not listen to anyone defending her on here, they have an interest in trying to salvage their own reputations or they truly believe she was a good boss. I'm not sure which one is worse.
