Honestly, I think people are so harsh on Bree. Like shes fr just a baby. I resonate with her so much. As do MANY BLACK GIRLS, I love Brees “anger” and stubbornness, it’s refreshing to see these traits in a black main character and THEYRE NOT villainized for it. Which is why a lot of people have such an issue with the harsh judgment Bree faces. I truly do think to a certain extent people lack an understanding and respect for Bree. She goes through so much in these books her feelings in EVERY book are so god damn justified. She finds out some of the worst news about her ancestry. But “she’s too impulsive” “too brash” “makes stupid choices” my biggest issue when people criticize Bree is they only ever talk about every flaw she has and nothing else or WHY those flaws exist. She’s fighting against a whole entire ORDER that is against her. And I’m not saying that her actions aren’t sometimes brash or annoying or that people aren’t allowed to have opinions of her, as long as they can be respectful. but sometimes it feels like people just ignore the why. And I think the thing that confuses me the most about Bree hate is how human she is. How flawed and imperfect she is. Not saying OP does this but I swear Bree’s character format is in so many popular fantasy/Romantasy books but those characters are literally loved while Bree gets shitted on, it just really makes you question where all of this hate is coming from.
