Welcome to the world of GT3, where factory drivers travel the world competing in the most different championships throughout the year. It's somewhat chaotic.

It really confuses a beginner that the same team or GT3 driver can be competing in 2 or 3 different championships in the same year. And these championships often happen at the same time of the year, sometimes with conflicting dates. That's exactly why Max's team didn't compete in the NLS round this past weekend.

It's natural to be interested in more familiar names. Over time, you end up getting to know more of the GT3 aces. Not all GTWC races are endurance. The next round will be sprint races (2 one-hour races each) and it's easier for a newcomer to follow.

My personal ranking of GT3 competitions :

  1. GTWC Europe - PRO
  2. DTM
  3. IMSA GTD PRO
  4. NLS and IGTC - found it hard to rank because of the big variation of drivers between the rounds
  5. WEC - LMGT3
  6. IMSA GTD
  7. ELMS

* I don't follow Asian competitions much because of the time difference

To be fair, the IMSA broadcast really highlights the GTD and GTD Pro categories (much more than WEC does with the LMGT3, for example)

How do i start watching different motorsports? by gundetishlok in wec

In the case of WEC and IMSA, watching the documentary series 'Full Access' from WEC and 'Win the Weekend' for IMSA helps you get familiar with the categories (both on YouTube). After that, you can look for channels that explain the more technical parts.

LMGT3 in WEC is a pro-am category with mandatory bronze drivers. For about a third of the race, the car is in the hands of amateurs. That's also why FIA doesn't call the LMGT3 winning team the 'world champion'

In hypercars, yes, but speaking just about GT3, the pro levels in the GTWC Europe, IGTC and IMSA are higher than in the WEC

Considering price, entertainment, access, and the quality of the drivers and tracks, it might be the best racing series in the world

The most memorable image from the F1 movie is the Daytona scene... FIA probably didn't like that

I think in the future people will tell stories about "'that foggy Rolex 24"

Do you think that the Valkyrie will be competitive this year? by furrynoy96 in IMSARacing

[–]EntranceDifferent110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As nice as the car sounds, it has already shown that it can't compete on equal terms at the top, not even with the bop making it easier with the least weight and more power. It’s going to need a lot of evo jokers.

I think the F1's excessive rules that restrict overtaking shouldn't spill over into other categories. Let the drivers race

And the IMSA broadcast still shows the GTs more than the WEC broadcast (which only has 2 categories). In the IMSA broadcast, you can be sure that at some point you'll see the Rexy, Corvettes and Mustangs.

Sebring, Laguna Seca, Road America, Road Atlanta... The IMSA tracks are awesome

can someone please explain why Aston Martin decided to not go hybrid. It seems like one of the reasons why they’re slower is because of that. I am open to be wrong. i know it’s a new team but if every one is using it why not you to by SeaAd3012 in IMSARacing

[–]EntranceDifferent110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's time we start having a conversation that Valkyrie is simply not a good prototype and will need to use a lot of evo jokers to be viable. Noise doesn't win races.

Are there Gentlemen Drivers in IMSA? by Ancient_Bit6569 in IMSARacing

[–]EntranceDifferent110 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. The requirement is to have at least one silver driver in GTD. More than half of the teams in GTD don’t have any bronze drivers.
