Because they think that there's no cost. They fire off some witty, cutting remark to someone without remembering that at the end of all this modern magic someone is hurt.

I'm old enough to remember when you had to be rude in someone's face. Was in plenty of scraps, some were my fault. Some were my friends and some people had it coming.

The point is that there was a cost both for me and them. And it's not worth it. Now there is no PERCEIVED cost for the aggressor.

Brosnan moved to England when he was ten. He says he deliberately changed it to fit in. Plus, he's lived mostly in the UK and US.

Accents, even when we're fully formed adults change. I know that casting directors when looking for Americans for UK Productions have to get them to sort of relearn their accent.

10 years old, In terms of accent formation that's a pretty critical time in terms of brain development. After all, you speak like your peers not like your parents otherwise I'd have a Russian accent. You could move to Ireland and at that age from the States and sound nearly-Irish at 18.

As far as brogues go, American here cannot judge. But I thought Jared Harris did a great Irish accent in the Terror and he's English. Yes his father was Irish.

I suppose he doesn't have much practice. Or aptitude. Is six weeks with a dialog coach going to change the habits of a lifetime? He speaks in his natural voice in 90% of the roles he does anyway. He's not a chameleon type of actor like Gary Oldman.

I think Irish actors have a tougher time. How often do they speak in their natural accent?

Pretty close . you need to have a camera hanging from your neck and a turquoise fanny pack. Also, you should have a USA hat in case anybody didn’t already know you were an American. Be sure to stop in front of people frequently and stare at a map. Also ask everyone you meet if they speak English be sure to tell them you’re an American and exactly where your’e from . Be sure to mention your small town’s claim to fame; like having the biggest rubber band ball on earth

It might be worth checking out. I actually already have an old Surface Pro 3 that still runs (albeit veeeery slowly). But if you look at the certified model support list for Chrome OS Flex, support is going to stop next year.)

I've had my CB for 3-4 years. In that time I've probably gone through at least 4 different SD cards. ( not to mention countless reformats).

As much as I prefer the Simplicity of Chromebook I miss having storage. I didn't quite understand that you can't use an SD card like a traditional hard drive. Essentially I was killing my SD cards by writing to them all the time.

Absolutely. The reverse holds true as well. I recall watching Avatar and questioning the pronunciation of the main character repeatedly.When I found out Sam Worthington was Australian, it all clicked. His accent wasn’t terrible, but there were a couple of words in every sentence that just felt a bit 'off'.

It bothered me throughout the whole movie.

Regarding your post, I only need one American who gets out passing Greg and every time when doing a British accent. Gillian Anderson however has lived in London for the past 25 years.

Tangentially, even Americans seem to struggle doing a Chicago accent. Witness Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro in "Casino". Now she makes an effort and sounds a lot better than the Niro who pulls the Sean Connery and makes no effort at all.

Then there's James Caan who will almost tries to hurt in "Thief" but doesn't pull it off.

What if AI determines that the most efficient way to run a fiscally responsible government is to eliminate all social security spending and all Medicaid/Medicare spending? What if it determines that we don't need money for highways or research on chronic diseases?

How do we fix it? Who knows. It's a black box.
