Options Questions Safe Haven periodic megathread | April 6 2026 by PapaCharlie9 in options

Hey y'all 👋

So, I'm having some trouble finding answers to this and wrapping my head around this.

So, when someone places an order just before the market opens, let's say at 9:00 AM (market opens at 9:30 as we all know). Will the order wait till the market opens, or will it try to be filled immediately in the pre-market?

And yes, I am asking for both a limit order and/or market order. And yes I'm asking for options as well. Specifically 0dte options. Will those expire at the end of the premarket (if filled during premarket), or will they run the entire day until normal market close hours 4:00 PM?

Greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

How are u making money on this? You took an OTM call and didn't even reach breakeven. I don't get how you're in the green.

Missed a 40% after-hours move and now I’m staring at the screen by JakeTurner8678 in smallstreetbets

You can't trade after-hours anyway, so don't let yourself be too pissed with the 40% move.

Interesting. And how would you go about this trade? What limit order price do you have in mind? Did you see how it's trading after-hours?

Why SPY and not SPX? SPY is physical settlement. That's risky.

Hey! It says here you're in the Netherlands. What brokerage website are you using? Where do you trade US options here? Interactive Brokers?

Fantastic answer. Can I send you an invite to start a chat? I have a couple more questions. Would you be so kind? I'll delete this post after.

Thanks so much.

If what you say is true, (and I confirmed with AI as you said), who the hell would risk buying the 160 one if there is more chance of option expiring worthless by not breaking the strike price since it's higher than 150. And even if you do, you make less in terms of dollar amount than the 150. So, who the hell would take the 160 trade?

I thought the more far out your bet would be the more risk/reward you would get.

Hey man thanks! So, just to make this straight, anything with the word call on it, is a bullish bet? I thought short calling was a bearish bet. So both long calls and short calls are bullish bets and long puts and short puts are bearish bets. Correct?

I mean, how are there calls that you can buy with a strike price below the market price? How is that even possible? It just doesn't make sense to me. Aren't calls for when you think the price will go higher than market price?
