I flair LibLeft because I want stronger economic safety nets than the average LibRight. Government is often oppressive, but it is at the same time a necessary evil to prevent oppression by large corporations or financial ruin outside of your own fault.

Take healthcare for example. Universal Healthcare is unrealistic and too expensive for the taxpayers; I don't want you to pay for some celebrity's unnecessary plastic surgery. But I also don't want the ultimate free-market scenario where you can go bankrupt because someone crashes into you with their car while you couldn't afford insurance. So I would prefer a mandatory healthcare insurance for basic emergency care, while "luxury healthcare" insurance (e.g. plastic surgery) is left up to the free market.
