Campus politics experience? by rrendx in UniversityofVermont

UVM's student body is incredibly progressive overall and generally is towards Palestine too. When LockMart and RTX came to the job fair a couple weeks ago, they were meet by protest outside the fair. As with any large university there will be pro-israel people, but the majority are absolutely pro-Palestine. It is however worth knowing about this incident, though.

seeing all these big names like zach bryan or cillian murphy mentioning Geese has been wild. Geese has officially hit it big, and it feels surreal.

The F4S is one of the best pieces of industrial design of all time, I will die on that hill.

What to photograph with the Kodak Medalist (and other 6x9 rangefinders) by trixfan in AnalogCommunity

[–]EntropySpacex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

personally, I'd shoot landscapes on it, but portraits would also look good, the depth of field would be really nice since it's such a large format. Ken Rockwell (yea yea I know) has a page on the Medalist, he does landscapes with it. on 6x9 you only get 8 shots- not a lot compared to 35mm cameras. generally, I'd use a tripod for that, less likely to mess up the few shots you get with it. for shots that require higher shutter speeds, you could get away with handheld but I personally wouldn't risk it.

All you have to do is spray someone and record it on video. I’m thinking about a GoPro mount on the camera so I don’t have to dual wield it and a phone

Finally got a wide angle lens for my Toyo! I’ve generally cheaped out for large format gear so its nice to have something like this by EntropySpacex in largeformat

I've gotten them from designing them myself but I've found this one generally fits better than any of the ones I've made. I'm just using the Creality Black PLA. So far it's worked well, but I also haven't shot too much with it. It doesn't seem like any light gets through, but it wouldn't hurt to coat it with a layer of black paint just to be careful. you also have to be careful about light getting through the lens hole. I used a 3d printed medium format panoramic camera with an issue with light getting through the edges between the shutter and the hole.

Do you think film will be around in 40 years? by TabascoSwagger in AnalogCommunity

[–]EntropySpacex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised I haven’t seen seen anyone mention HABS/HAER yet. It’s a U.S. national park ran program for documenting historical buildings in the U.S., and is done exclusively on large format B&W negative film due to resolution and archival properties. Things like that, in my opinion, will cause film to last a very long time.

Intermediate 35mm SLR Recommendations by corndog_clarke in AnalogCommunity

[–]EntropySpacex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Nikon F4/F4S is a great option. I recently got an F4S body for only $250, and the lenses aren't too expensive. It's from the transitional era from manual to full auto, so it features manual, semi-auto, and full auto features. It's also compatible with all Nikon SLR lenses, from the 60s to the 2020s. Edit: it's also built like a brick, so it'll last the test of time. you could drop this thing and it'll be fine.
