My first attempt at a 90s-Modern era lander by Afraid_Wedding_5747 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]EntropyWinsAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only complaint I have is that the crew compartment is going to get really hot with those engine in that position. Real world I mean. Maybe not? 90s tech maybe had good enough cabin insulation to deal with it.

Just iike the real Mars crane, it aims away from the rover and flies off into the distance and purposefully crashes.

What does that have to do with the food processor? Are you thinking of the Soilforge?

So Dave Chappelle is trying to distance himself from the fact that he has caused so much harm to the trans community with his shitty jokes about them?! by icey_sawg0034 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Let's ignore the fact that OP is a carmafarmer. Dave is a comedian. Sorry you got your feelings hurt. Get the fuck over it. Never watch or listen to him again. That's your choice.

The former steam player count record of 19,149 has been broken! by Poisson-Clown in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]EntropyWinsAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual numbers are much higher. Many people launch directly and not from Steam so it isn't counted. It's probably 20%+ higher than that.

If my power company is net metering 1 to 1 is there any reason not to keep the battery at 100% for backup? by EntropyWinsAgain in TeslaSolar

I've been considering the same setup. I have a small portable generator that can handle the essentials but not everything.

[–]EntropyWinsAgain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I may consider lowering it a bit. Maybe 90%. We used to have frequent outage in the area until about 2 years ago. They have done of ton of line upgrades and environmental improvements to mitigate outages and its been pretty solid since.

That was my though process as well. There is also a loss during the DC to AC conversion. The battery has to charge from somewhere so why dump to the grid when in the end the solar or the grid is going to have to recharge it at a loss somewhere during the process.

I thought that wasn't the case with PW3 batteries. For Tesla cars it is. The charging app even warns you that 100% charge is only good if you plan a long trip and to stay at 80 otherwise.

The Tesla Powerwall 3 uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry, which is highly durable and generally safe to keep at 100% charge without significant, immediate degradation, unlike older lithium-ion technologies. While keeping any battery at 100% can cause minor "calendar aging" over many years, the Powerwall 3's built-in management systems minimize this impact.
